Default Favorite runs on Uncanny X-Men after Chris Claremont left in 1991?

Felt like giving attention to the later runs since I don't hear them talked about as often. Claremont left after #279 (and returned in 2000 and 2004) and I know there were more writers that worked on the title than the ones I'm about to list, but as a general idea:

    Whilce Portacio (1991-1992, #280s)

    Scott Lobdell (1992-1997, #280s-340s)

    Steven Seagle (1997-1999, #350s-360s)

    Alan Davis (1999-2000, #360s-380s)

    Chris Claremont (2000-2001, #380s)

    Joe Casey (2001-2002, #390s-400s)

    Chuck Austen (2002-2004, #410s-440s)

    Chris Claremont (2004-2006, #440s-470s)

    Ed Brubaker (2006-2008, #470s-500s)

    Matt Fraction (2008-2011, #500s-530s)

    Kieron Gillen (2011, #530s-540s)

Lobdell, Seagle, Brubaker and Gillen are the only ones worth acknowledging

ETA: Kavanaugh didnt write UXM. I think you meant Alan Davis

Unreadable under Portaccio and Slobdell, had its moments under Seagle and Davis, AMAZAYN during Revolution, Casey was okay, Austen and Brubaker was garbage, Fraction and Gillen had fun moments but nothing to write home about.

Seagle and Claremont were sort of alright, the rest were boring to bad. I still haven't read Gillen's run because it's too tied up in AvX.

    This run predates AvX

Did Davis write both Uncanny and Adjectiveless? I don't remember in which book it was but that one issue where Xavier instigates a fight between the X-Men to figure out who infiltrated the team is the best standalone story of the 90s.

Definitely have a soft spot for Davis's run. My grandma would always get me comic books whenever she went to the grocery store and that was one she got me a lot of (even got me duplicates of some issues, godblessher)

They are but some are misleading especially around the early 2000s as Marvel did some book reshuffles. Claremont's Uncanny was a continiation of his X-treme X-men run, which actually began in 2001 (and one could argue 2000 from his previous UXM run). Austen’s run was continued over in X-men and he lasted till 2005. Davis was alos writing X-men concurrently with his UXM run and the books were the same released biweekly

    He did both

I hated his run. He came after the wonderful, yet shortlived Seagle/Kelly era. I wasnt a fan of the cast being cut down to 4 characters with the addition of the Excalibur characters and essentially released biweekly as one title. Seemed like such a waste. Davis' art was horrible to which made his X-men hard to read. Thankfully Kubert did art on UXM. I think Davis was initially gonna be filler but ended up being permanent. His stories werent that good IMO.

But that happened at the beginning of Kelly/Seagle run.

Editorial was a mess by the end of the 90s I think there was no one at the driver's seat. Then Davis got to tell the Twelve which sucked ass but the build up was sweet.

It did but they quickly bailed and Davis is the one that is most identifiable with that cast and I dont like what he did with them. The Twelve was his big story and as you mentioned, it sucked

Agreed. So much potential squandered and blown away like dust in the wind.

I feel it was Joe Kelly's X-Men run that is the better half of the Kelly/Seagle era. Read alone, Seagle's part isn't that great but everyone merges the two together.
