I would be up for an Elseworlds story with Hal as an ace mech pilot, and all the characters Güicho listed.
Hal and Alan team-ups were always kind of unique in that, unlike Jay & Barry (or Wally) and Alan & Kyle, there wasn't the same kind of idolization or mentor/student relationship between Alan & Hal. There always seemed to be respect between the two, but also very little warmth. I never got the impression that Hal wanted to hang out with Alan and pick up some pointers, nor did it seem like Alan had much interest in taking Hal under his wing. Waid played with this idea beautifully in the Brave & Bold maxiseries from years ago.
Avatar: Here's to the late, great Steve Dillon. Best. Punisher. Artist. EVER!
We might get a Hal and Alan team up in GL 80th anniversary special. Maybe.
Honestly, that's always been my favorite part.
Alan wasn't 'the original GL'... he wasn't the 'Mentor'... He was just 'The other guy'. When they met, they met as equals. And as we're used to seeing Hal team up with other GL's in the corp... it was both something familiar, and yet still different. I loved those team ups.
I don't really see Hal needing a 'mentor' type. They've tried to put both Sinestro and Kilowog in those roles and they don't really fit. Hal's just too self-confident to really see anyone as 'viable advice giver and more experienced'... It's equals or nothing
Yeah I always thought Kyle and Alan had a better mentor/student relationship then Hal did with Alan. I do think Alan respected Hal though, I think that is pretty clear in Green Lantern Rebirth.
"It's fun and it's cool, so that's all that matters. It's what comics are for, Duh."
Words to live by.
I've liked the spacesuit redesign for Hal's Earth One look.
Bearded Hal makes me wonder if Chris Evans is ready for another comic book franchise? (Hal's essentially equal parts Cap and Johnny Storm anyway )
man, i'm really looking forward to this.

glad that we have this and green lantern 80th anniversary special.Set three years after the events of Vol. One, Hal Jordan is joined by John Stewart, Arisia, Kilowog and more Green Lanterns to save the galaxy from Yellow Lanterns.
"Manhunters, alien races, rings of power—it’s a lot for the people of Earth to absorb," reads DC's description. "Especially when an interplanetary incident forces their protector, Hal Jordan, to leave on a rescue mission that results in the discovery that there's a new player in the galaxy: Yellow Lanterns!"
