Heh. As far as I'm concerned, Krypto + Steel = awesome.
Speaking of Krypto, I'm just realizing something. Krypto's trapped himself into the Phantom Zone when Clark was still a baby to protect him, and stayed there until Clark was well into his Superman years. Meaning he stayed trapped in a hellish dimension for 20+ years. And he's the first one to jump in back there to save his master.
    .....Good dog. Good dog.
I also note that the story seem to show Superman alterning between his "normal state" and "evil state". So it appears that it will be not just about his friends trying to cure him, but also about him fighting the disease/finding a way to not harm others (surrendering himself, going into space....).

I'm confused, is there somekind of schedule to follow this event?

I like scenes like this that show that Batman respects and cares about Superman. The paranoia and stuff shown sometimes gets a bit much, so it's good to show the World's Finest friendship is still a thing that exists and the two have faith in each other, even when Superman is being transformed.

I have enjoyed the crossover so far, but does it REALLY take 15 issues---including extra sized annuals and one-shots (for more money, no doubt)---to tell this story?

    I doubt it ends there.

Maybe it's like Zero Year story line in Batman, a big story divide into several parts, then parts in turn break into chapters.

Ha! Well I'll go ahead and jump off board now and maybe consider getting a collected edition somewhere down the line. Thanks for telling me...

I'm right there with you, man. Though the prologue was weak, the start for "Doomed" has been nothing short of fantastic thus far. A great surprise. This crossover surely is bringing it and that's coming from somebody that has been crossover fatigued. Solid. Glad I gave it a chance. First time I've been excited to actually follow a story from book to book in quite awhile and I didn't expect that.

Marvel has made end-cap issues an important part of events/crossovers.

There is obviously more going on here than just "Superman killed Doom and now he is infected!" Maybe there will be some kind of awesome adventure in the Phantom Zone.

If Steel has the ability to work the technology of the Phantom Zone so its doors could be "shut for good," why wasn't he called in to shut it for good after Doomsday's first escape thus preventing Zod and Faora's escape and now Doomsday's second escape?

I asked Greg Pak on tumblr.
    Here is what he said
. The climax of the event is SUPERMAN DOOMED #2 in August.
Here’s the whole list of books in the event, from May to August.
    Thanks, and hope you enjoy!
