Why? DC isn't Marvel Comics, which relaunches a title with a new #1 issue every chance it gets.

DC had several titles that honestly made it well beyond 100 issues or 200 issues just prior to Flashpoint. (And I don't quite count Superman or Wonder Woman in that since Superman went back and forth with what the title of the book was, while Wonder Woman did add a few volumes worth together to get to issue #600.)

    Also #250 often gets celebrated.

These days, most comics don't make it that far before being relaunched or cancelled, so #50 is indeed an achievement.

Some books have even had one-year and two-year anniversary issues. Such as Justice League International #24 which was double-sized and introduced Justice League Europe.

Btw... Tales of the Teen Titans #50 was a double-sized special issue featuring the wedding of Donna Troy and Terry Long, and went on to be nominated for a Kirby Award (Eisner/Harvey before it split) for best single issue.
It was beat by Swamp Thing which had three issues nominated.
I've tried collecting every 50th issue of all the major titles (50, 100, 150, 200, etc.). I've done pretty well but the old ones get EXPENSIVE.

BTW, is this the first time any Green Arrow has reached #50?

Just did the research. It's not. Never mind. So all of these have before.

Not much. There are very few books that do not feature characters created after the 1960s who have staying power, at least in books of their owns.

I'm expecting special 3D covers, maybe the reduced price rerelease of some #1 issues and a special anthology of previously published material. I'm also expecting some more special edition trades collecting large chunks of New 52 stories in hard covers.

I think since the new52 branding is gone, we will not see anything special for issue #52.

    Few?
If Thomas Crown's list is correct, there are currently ZERO characters and concepts created after the 60s that can carry a book past 50.

I think some people are talking about "currently able" and others are talking about "have in the past."

This is the current list. The topic of the thread.

Actually, the topic of the thread is what do we think DC will do in these specific #50 issues. Whether or not DC should have more books reaching that number or any value judgements about that were brought in by other people.

12 survivors from the original 52 to make it to 50 issues. Should we hold some kind of ceremony for the 40 dead?

Anyway, cool to see that Aquaman dodged the axe.

    Exactly.

Currently able, is what comprises the OPs list, I think everyone gets that.

Yes, but if you want to change the topic to whether DC should or should not have more titles reaching 50, that's cool. Someone else can also change it to talk about past series that did or did not.

But if you want to stay on-topic, just talk about the content in issue #50 of those books.
