Btw, great contest Greg. Some truly beautiful covers.
Morris Gollub did so many great covers for Lassie, various jungle people and many others. He was great at depicting the feeling of motion and action in his artwork. I first was introduced to him with his many illustrations within Outdoor Life magazine.

I am surprised, no one has done Magnus yet. So I will.

I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

Boy, does this bring back memories. Patrick McGoohan had a brief stint with Disney Studios and also did the movie "The Three Lives of Thomasina".

Only a real he-man like Magnus could wear white go-go boots while fighting bad bots! Man, I'm loving all this old school Gold Key goodness! What a terrific theme!

Wow, that is great, would have been good for that torn cover contest we had.

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Of course, Patrick McGoohan wasn't the only British actor to have worked for Disney before going back to the UK and achieved stardom playing a spy...

I think the guy on the right is French and he's trying to cook it. He'll need a lot of butter and garlic!

BTW not sure what's the most amazing : the giant snail with teeth, or the young Sean Connery with a Disney smile.
