If Maggott had come up under Morrison or in the 2000s he'd likely still be in heavy rotation today. There's always a chance to do that now. Today 'weird' characters like that are featured regularly.
True, if someone like Glob Herman can get traction today, Maggott should be an easy sell, by comparison. (And Maggott wasn't introduced as part of a faction of human-hating mutant-supremacist druggies rioting at Xaviers and attacking human visitors, a riot that was only stopped by a mutant teen *killing herself* to telepathically shut them down, so he's got that over Glob, too.)

Neither of those characters were brought in during influential runs
    That's the main problem
Cecelia and Marrow fared a little better but they had similar issues

Maggot doesn't need an entire retool

If Warren can go blue to pink to metal to feathers and back again, Japheth can afford some recontextualization for the sake of story.
Being able to disperse into a swarm of giant slugs, literally 'coming apart at the seams' and reassembling into a humanoid form later, would be neat upgrade, particularly if the 'slugs' turned out to be a larval stage, and the 'final form' was something with wings, and perhaps acid or venom or whatever.

Weren’t all three created near the end of Lobdell’s run? Seagull and Jelly got fired before they could do anything. Harras was not a good EIC

I don't think its his powers that are the problem.

Maybe a new name could make him more marketable, less of a joke. But rebranding can be tricky.
Basically you need writers interested in writing these characters. Which means Marvel
Needs to increase the diversity of the people they hire. Not just writers and artists, but corporate.

Not exactly if i remember correctly Eany and Meany have to return inside Maggot body to get the extra Strength and durability. What i am proposing is that he has learned to absorb the extra power without them having to reenter his body.

His powers could be extended to microbes that make up his digestive system can break down matter, Thousands of tiny maggot looking microbes breaking down a substance to energy to be used by Maggot.

I'm not sure, has he tried to have them digest any of those materials? Usually what they absorb just gets converted into raw strength and added muscle mass. I'm thinking that it is a limit to what types of substances they can digest. Not sure if they can digest Vibranium,Adamantium, or Dark Matter

it was more a series of rhetorical questions to generate questions and suggest ongoing mutations and evolutions. People love Pokemon evolutions and Steven Universe fusions, just think what COULD be Maggots next chapter

Yeah, there's tons of potential for development there. How about constructs from the darkforce dimension? Magical items? How would 'metabolizing' such items affect him? He could be as wildly variable as the writer wants to go, if he takes on different characteristics by eating exotic things (instead of just 'strong and tough' by eating regular old junk).

Things get tense. Ilyanna concentrates and summons up some sort of pentacle pendent and throws it to Maggott. "Eat this."

"Uh, it looks like it's magical. You know weird stuff happens if I eat magic..."

"I'm counting on it. We need weird stuff about now..."
