Anyone else feeling trepidation more than excitement? Only earlier this year, I would have been over the moon about this. Now I just feel like I’m being setup Charlie Brown style for them to triple down on the retcon.

Because even if the retcon was unpopular, far more hated ones like One More Day are still around.

I don't know what Spiderman fandom did after One More Day, but I know fandom for the Magnus family has basically responded by completely disregarding Marvel. Marvel can claim they're not his kids, and it's really up to the company if it wants to keep losing out on easy money. Fans are still gonna keep making all sorts of fan things that keep it intact and supersede Marvel.

At the very least, we may have to wait until one of those fans goes on to become an editor at Marvel ala Geoff Johns, and fixes it.
