That's one of Hickman's flaws as a writer; he focuses so much on his structured storytelling overall that he can neglect the connective tissue(focused on the destination, not the journey along the way). I enjoyed this issue anyways, but I can understand the criticism.
Let the flames destroy all but that which is pure and true!
People complaining about the plot. Like there's a goal but you don't have to travel in a straight line to get there.
"Cable was right!"
Was the villain the same race as the Imperial Guardsman Quasar?
Issue was terrible. Roberto and Deathbird suck. Sam and Smasher suck. Ugh. Writing was all over the place.
ALL HAIL THE HADARI YAO, THE OMEGA'S OMEGA, BEYOND OMEGA, THE VOICE OF SOL!!!! NOW AGAIN THE ONE TRUE AND ONLY GODDESS OF THE X-MEN AS CLAREMONT INTENDED!!!!!
Definitely the most "traditional" X-Men story Hickman has written so far, which made Booth's nostalgic art-style feel appropriate for it. I liked that he built off of the economic collapse established in Empyre and gave more focus to Xandra. He managed to include charming Roberto and Sam content that didn't feel too intrusive or distracting. Ororo, Jean, and Smasher had impressive feats, Scott not so much unfortunately. I thought it was very cool, and the teaser for future Storm content was the cherry on top!
