While I know that you are going to lose folks who have been a part of your "World" just by virtue of that time is passing by, this year is off to a cruddy start.
Feel free to take a day or two off, death.
Well, that bites. IMO, he was the most important part of Rush. Yeah, the lyrics could be pretentious at times, but at least they didn't seem to be written during a coffee break like many other non-Rush songs. Obviously, he was a master drummer.
RIP
Growing up during the '70s, he usually was just the bad-guy-of-the-week on one of the TV dramas that night. It wasn't until the '80s that I found out how popular he had been during the '50s and '60s (not to mention being the inspiration for Snapper Carr). Still, it wasn't until this century that I actually saw an episode of 77 Sunset Strip (it wasn't in rerun form in the NYC metropolitan area by the time I was watching TV regularly circa 1969).
RIP

Eastman created the main character in the graphic novel "The Melting Pot" on her, and Strain voiced the character in the animated adaptation "Heavy Metal 2000", aka "F.A.K.K.˛", and also did promotional photo shoots in the character's outfit (see image above).
