Danny Boyle to direct Bond 25

Although the agreement isn't quite 100%, he says he'll do it if the script is good.

Technically, this is his second time directing Daniel Craig as James Bond....as he also did so in the 2012 Olympics opening film.

He has been back since last year. I think he has agreed to do two more Bond films. At last count, he was offered $200 million to do them. I'd come back for that amount too.

Danny Boyle is well qualified to direct anything in my book. He's one of the top directors out there right now in terms of quality filmmaking.

Craig is doing just one more. Boyle's pretty good, although sometimes "auteur" directors have gotten mixed results with the series, especially in regards to the action.

Boyle is fine. But i don't want to see more Craig even if he's my favorite Bond. He is pushing his age and going near the likes of Roger Moore. Who was a terrific Bond but it was becoming embarassing towards the end. Also Bond's story kind of ended in Spectre.

And spending that much money if it is true is criminal when there are so many talented actors who can make a great Bond. Will love to see him again. But better someone else be Bond. Not happening though by the looks of it.

I believe he was quoted as he'd rather slash his wrists than come back and do Bond. $200 mill will do a lot in healing those wrists I assume.

We'll probably get a new Bond after this one. I'm guessing Madeline might die, with perhaps her death being the thing that pushes Bond back into MI6 (Although it's not entirely clear at the end of SPECTRE whether he really retired or not). Plus they're probably going to have some new Bond girl(s). Hopefully if they take that route it's not handled kind of clumsily like "Diamonds are Forever" (Although that seems to be in part an attempt to 'erase' OHMSS from Bond canon-there's even some marriage jokes in DAF that seem to be at OHMSS's expense).

Roger Moore was actually past 50 by Spy Who Loved Me, but IMO it didn't seem that much of a distraction until his 80's films. Actually think he kind of aged slower in the films than Connery and Brosnan did during their shorter stints.... (although Connery got mostly back in shape for "NEver Say Never Again" but he looks pretty awful in DAF).

It's an internet forum for discussing things - the voicing of opinions is pretty much a given.

I'm neither nor there about Danny Boyle, but I'd rather not have Craig back. I think he was a fantastic Bond, but I liked Spectre and I think it is a nice way for him to leave. Also, I seem to be one of the few people who likes OHMSS :P To be honest, I care little for canon in the films, I just see them as individually enjoyed films. Except the recent ones of course, which are pretty much impossible to watch without consideration for canon.

Craig definitely hasn't proven himself enough for me as Bond, but he may be best of the available options, but I have no idea.

Boyle I hope can draw me back to being more interested in Bond films again. The films are missing some inarticulable x factor and maybe Boyle can find it again. (I'm sure Chris Nolan wouldn't have found it, I grow less and less a fan of his)

The Bond films always succeed in the area of being stylish, but the modern films need a little something more to put the series over the top and really get more excited about the film series.



I just made a custom Bond DVD set with Niven's Casino Royale and Never Say Never Again included. Never Say Never Again on rewatch was actually better than I remembered it, I'd like it more if it wasn't a Thunderball remake. Really good action movie for 1983 though. But Octopussy (also 1983) had much better villains and other various things.

Well, considering how well all of the Daniel Craig Bonds have done (the last two especially), you have to think that the studio execs see a new Craig Bond film as an easy $800 million to $1 billion, so dropping $200 million for their star is a worthwhile investment. That being said, if they paid him $200 million for two films, or one film, and you have to think it will be another $100 million+ for the production budget, this next film has to do gangbusters to make a profit. And I highly doubt that Craig will do two more films, considering how much he complained on Spectre.

There is the logical story to go after Spectre- the French girl gets killed in the opening scene, and Bond goes back to MI6 to get revenge.

Do you think that maybe they were TOO 'realistic' for your tastes? The new Bonds followed the Nolan Batman formula of a grounded reality without all of the fanciful inventions of the past. I know that one thing I missed in the Craig films was Q and his gadgets.
