X-Men "Gifted" TV show discussion and speculation

It's been renewed! It's been renewed!

The only thing that might have thrown a monkey wrench into whether or not it would be renewed was the Disney-Fox deal. I think any time a network invests in a show in a big way like this, they allow at least two seasons to see if any problems can be course corrected.

I hope the writers and showrunners get me to come back for season 2 by learning from mistakes, in particular by bringing back Dreamer and handling character death much, much better than they have been. Assuming both of those things don't happen in the finale, of course.

Thanks to all fans of the show that helped in any way.

Season two I suspect by merging some of the original Hellfire ideas for this show before it became The Gifted allow for a more robust set of factions and the sides doing wonders for driving the drama.

One thing the ratings have shown me is that audiences right now are in the mood for good drama yes, but also characters who are positive that they are doing what they believe is right and building a better world and any factions that may come out of the finale should all be able to present their own shall we say optimistic messages for the world they want to build with very different tactics.

I mostly held my mouth on that until renewal happened, but the focus on the Strucker parents and how they went about it became an anchor very much driving things down more then repeated arguments in the Underground by the time we got past the first iteration of them wanting to live an ordinary life vs accepting they are in extraordinary circumstances. Last episode we were in the fourth of fifth of it with them trying to leave the Underground to go to Mexico to live as ordinary people.

I would agree that minimally a radically different formula needs to happen with their characters next season. I suspect they already signed the contracts for coming back as a press release like this comes after the contracts are signed. But, the core point is they need to find a way to integrate them into the show in a very different framework then took hold this season.

Mutants in the comics and movies never have parents mostly. They gotta go imo. Or kill the mom and give the dad his powers.

Not sure if anyone brought this up, as I just watched the episode yesterday. Did anyone notice the way Lauren's mom looked at her when they mentioned she held out for a long time? (using her powers with Wes for a long time). I immediately thought, did Lauren use Kick?

FoxTV knew they were tossing The Gifted to the New Years Day wolves last episode to make sure people saw the ads for their shows this week and The X-Files. I expected the rating they managed and if I expected it one can guess Fox did as well.

This is where the shows DVR watchers, Hulu watchers, On Demand watchers, and those who bought the season on Amazon.com deserve kudos. The show has been averaging a million plus viewers for new episodes in Canada as of ep 5 last I checked so global watchers deserve their kudos as well such as its airing this month in Germany finally.

It all added up along with major reviewers either still promoting the show or sending the signal they like enough about the show they hope it gets retooled for a second go.

It's international and delayed viewing success should certainly have helped! I suspect we'll be seeing these factor more as the way people watch tv, especially new shows that may gain traction slowly, changes!

Once people DVR or binge it during the summer I think alot more fans will join for season 2.

This is the only show besides GoT I watch week to week. If this wasn't X-MEN I'd wait. I hate commercials and I hate waiting. I'd rather wait till the season finale then wait week to week. I think alot feel the same. I think it'll flow better on streaming service too without commercials. This going to Netflix like AoS & Flash?

It could explain the black ring she was wearing last episode and in coming ones in the promo.

Agree a thousand percent. They drag the show down to a crawl whenever they appear and all they ever do is constantly flip flop on whether there kids should get involved as if they have a choice.
