The Vulturions? Yeah, although "Wake Riders" was a good name for them, too, and obscured their true identity quite nicely.

The Vulturions (who the Wake Riders are basically based on) have been around since the 80's.

Rather than some rebooted origin, it looks like it's going for an "Untold Legend" esque story instead.

What is Morbius' deal at this point? Now he's just trying to kidnap or suck the blood of a teen Spider-Man?

I'd say there's some "rebooting" going on, at least in so far as this possibly being in normal 616 continuity.
