Default What was your favorite label from DC Comics?

There are many labels in DC Comics, there´s (or there was) Vertigo, Helix, Elseworlds, America´s Best Comics, Homage, Piranha Press, Paradox Press, Minx, Tangent Comics, and others.

What is your favorite label from all these? What is your favorite story from all these labels?

Elseworlds. Though I'm not sure that qualifies as a label in and of itself. My current favorite is Black Label just because they are doing the kinds of series I want to read. Out of continuity stuff with a more mature bent.

Elseworlds. I've always liked the freedom that AU's have to play around with a character and their mythology without having to worry about leaving everything as they found it for the next writer, or how whatever happens in their story impact the wider DCU.

Vertigo for sure. I liked a lot of stuff from several of the labels, but Vertigo was where it was at for me.

From that list, I have fond memories of Elseworlds, Helix, and Tangent. But America's Best Comics wins. Such a variety of interesting characters in creative stories, mostly written by Alan Moore. Really felt like I got my money's worth. The titles I followed were Tom Strong, Top 10, and Tomorrow Stories, plus all the related spin offs and one shots.

Definitely Vertigo, but I’d like to echo the praise for ABC... I devoured every title. Promethea remains a Top 5 title all time (for me).

But Vertigo, in it’s heyday, was king.

Right now it's the Sandman universe as I'm reading three titles- The Dreaming, Hellblazer (*), and Books of Magic.

    * Hellblazer (2019) is pitched as a Black Label book but set in the Sandman Universe so it double dips.

Definitely Elseworlds. Wish it was still around.

    Vertigo.
    Especially during the '90s.

I like to pretend that Promethea was really a Vertigo title. It and Hellboy are two titles I felt really captured the early Vertigo feel despite not being Vertigo.

But then, the '90s had something of a transcendental/existentialism movement going on, most likely fueled by Y2K anxiety.

    Actually Transmetropolitan started in Helix

If I could win the argument that the 80 Page Giants were a different label--they had a different price point and a distinctive trade dress--then I'd submit those.

Vertigo. Preacher is my favourite comic of all time.
Check out my new action comedy comic Supermom. Superhero Voltra is out to stop her archnemesis from taking over the world. There's just one problem: she's pregnant... and he's the father.

Same here. I'm pretty sure I own every book published under the Vertigo imprint between 1993 - 1996... all good stuff!
