Just finished listening to The Voodoo Highway - Part of the Plan & I'm 97% disappointed in this offering of blues rock.

I salvaged just 2 songs (Hope, Trouble At Customs) that I would care to put on my iphone for car driving. Pedestrian, old white guys blues-rock that you could hear at a Wednesday county fair in North Carolina. The 2 songs that I saved were surprisingly competent ballads that have sweet melodies, highlighted by acoustic guitar/mandolin accompaniment. Judicious use of the fiddle give these a nice nice country cross over flavoring to them. The rest of this offering will be easily forgotten.

because I have zero self control (and because i just found out this import was released a few years back), I just picked up this from Amazon:

Got these two records. Already listened to them on spottily and decided I wanted them on vinyl. Excellent pressing on clear vinyl of Chet Faker's Built On Glass. Highly recommend checking out both albums!

I'm a really big fan of all of Bad Company's material so glad to read that you are getting into the band.

Cheers for that. Just got a copy of 'Desolation Angels' and, apart from a bit of synth here and there (which I don't feel suits them), it's great stuff.

There's a couple of great Mick Ralphs songs on 'Side 2'. 'Oh, Atlanta' and 'Take The Time' back-to-back. Top.

"Oh, Atlanta" is one of their more underrated gems. I also like the song "Wildfire Woman" from Straight Shooter as an underrated classic.

I really rate 'Shooting Star' from the second album.

Onto new purchases - just got 'Goin' Home' the new album from blues guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Really, really good.

Yes, but that one is recognized as one of their biggest tracks.

    Fair enough.

Got to ask (as you say you've got all their stuff) - what do make of the post Paul Rodgers material?? Worth bothering with??

Picked up two Skid Row albums: their first self titled album and Slave to the Grind. Had not heard much of Slave to the Grind and after listening to it I would not recommend it. The self titled album is great.
