Sex sells too. And things would probably sale even more if there was more relationship diversity and openness so that fans wouldn't always have to sit through ships they hated and wait for them to end before they see characters with different people in whatever relationships they find more entertaining.
Example we could have Domino x Colossus in one book with no issue. But fans who aren't invested in that ship may want something else. IN which case, they may have KittyLossus in another book. lol
That’s a biased statement since Marvel’s methods seem to disagree. Look at the Minority Displacement Thread—even they know that Marvel always toes the line when it comes to their diverse X-characters because traditionalists have always held up this bleeding, stunted industry that can’t even manage to progress from print to digital smoothly.
A big change like that to a mainline franchise would have pushback. But maybe you’re right and Hickman does it anyway. What happens? We move on or the traditionalists stop buying, X-sales go down, facsimiles and reprints go up like over at DC, and we wait for Marvel to cave and hit that reset button.

Because the creators, and, specially, the editors are not as progressive as a good part of the readership. Or sometimes, they think they are, but they don't (which is very typical in Hollywood, particularly.
Of course, the X-line is already in a dire state, and Marvel would never agree with anything that Hickman is doing (even if there's not sex stuff) if the books were selling as well as they were in the past.
As of this moment, the X-men books are the lowest in their history, due to the AoXM failure, so...
Plus Hickman did say if sales weren't good, he has a more drastic plan B. So he's been preparing different avenues depending on how difficult the Market / fanbase is.
Biased? How so? It's pretty much an objective fact.
I'm not sure why you're linking my comments about X-Men fans being progressive to Marvel's history of poor minority representation? Which, tbf to them, is actually decent (relatively speaking) in this new relaunch.
I don't think it would actually have a huge change on sales one way or the other, but it would be a hell of a lot of fun to see a story like that played out on paper versus the same Jean and Scott story they've been telling for 50 years.
I would assume elaborate Messiah Complex- tier crossovers if sales aren't good.

You're right. There are things that are essential, the X-men could create a country, go to space, become extinc but at the end of the day they will always go back to the mansion and the school.
It doesn't mean that is good or bad but there are things that are part of what the X-men or the characters are no matter how hard any writer tries to change it.
