Jean had more presence in death than Cyke in Hickman's entire run.
Hickman succeeded where 2010s Marvel didn't: make the X-Men villainous and irrelevant.
Hilariously, the X-Men have now fully embraced mutant supremacy and racism against humans.

Do you think ORCHIS is going to do something with the Cyclops body they have? It probably has an ugly hole in the head but is also infected with nanosentinels.

Giant Size X-men: Jean Grey and Emma Frost
Of course they knew. Why wouldnt they? The Five had been resurrecting mutants for some time. The HoX team werent the first group. Jean's role on that mission was to connect back to Xavier/Cerebro so that their memories prior to death would be preserved. Scott's first words were "Did....did it work?" which implies that he knew he would die on the mission and no one seemed shocked that they were brought back

They knew they could be resurrected, but you probably always have the doubt of "And if this time it doesn't work well," it is normal for them to continue being afraid of dying. It is not so easy to suppress such a primitive instinct.
