Take my dreams, childish and weak at the seams

If I agreed with critics, then I wouldn't enjoy the first Mortal Kombat movie and the 1994 Street Fighter movie
And a bunch of other movies

This came up a couple of pages earlier in this thread, but Mortal Kombat is retroactively considered to be a pretty enjoyable movie... especially when compared to MK: Annihilation.
Street Fighter? Perfectly acceptable guilty pleasure. Though I hate what they did with Zangief. Among other things. And turning Ryu and Ken into a bunch of petty schemers. What? But Raúl Julia did fine with his part.

Annihilation is entertainingly bad
I can get over the changes they made to the characters in this movie, they had to make something of them in the movieStreet Fighter? Perfectly acceptable guilty pleasure. In most of the games Ryu is all about the fight, Ken is all about facing Ryu and proving he's the best...etc etc, I wouldn't have as much fun with the movie if it took a more direct approach with characters as they are in the games
Raul Julia easily topped everyone else in that movie, I won't hesitate in listing him one of my favorite movie villains

I think the Street Fighter 2 anime did a nice job at making a more faithful adaptation of the game. But even there, a lot of characters had to be reduced to one-scene guest appearances, simply because of how many characters there are to begin with.
But, admittedly, at the end of the day, who's going to watch a fighting game adaptation for the storyline?

that was a good movie.
This cartoon, on the other hand...
It's really about finding the critics that match up with your tastes.

I saw this in the cinema as a wee kid, and was reminded of it a few years back. I dreaded that it was going to be one of those films which was terrible, but fondly remembered through the rosy haze of childhood nostalgia.
It was BRILLIANT! Just pure wonderful wish fulfillment stuff. Such fun.

I'm always amused by people who want a comic book to fail or get cancelled simply because they don't like a certain character.
Why rob someone else of joy or wish that on them?
It's childish.
