Future Remains Uncertain for a New "Marvel vs. Capcom" Game

Beast will be playable in Marvel Heroes sometime soon.

Beast and Nightcrawler are being added to Contest of Champions, which has had no issues doing variant versions of the mutants in game, while occasionally adding new ones like Cyclops, Old Man Logan and X-23.

Sure, they're not everywhere in every game, but they certainly have a presence.

Marvel Heroes and COC came out before the 'cut off' point where Ike ordered that no X-Men and FF characters must appear in future games and media made by Marvel outside the comics, hence why they continue to be allowed to because of licencing issues. Avengers Alliance 2 for example, no X-Men characters or FF characters compared to the first.

Anyway, I'd rather have a Marvel solo game, don't give a damn about Capcom characters who just took up wasted space in those games. Let Capcom make a Capcom solo game if they want. I'm sure it would sell but I wouldn't especially care.

At the very least, it would be nice to see the MvC games returned to digital stores even if a new game isn't likely.

If they're going to do as bad a hack job as MVC3 and UMVC3 were, they might as well just skip it. I bought both 3 and they just sit on the shelf. Porting over the new SF controller scheme killed that game due to oversimplification. They should just update the graphics in MVC2 and leave it at that.

That's because the game was initially released before the cut off date. Anything where that applies can still feature X-Men or FF characters due to licencing rules for that game wat the time. Any game which started after the released of Contest of Champions has not had any included because of Ike's strict edict.

That doesn't make any sense. If Marvel is saying it's a no go on X-Men all together, you wouldn't be getting new X-Men characters added into these games, even if they already had some before. Hell, of the three games you brought up before, it's only kind of weird X-Men aren't in one of them; because, after all, two of them are Avengers games. That one where it seems kind of weird being Marvel Future Fight, but than that game looks like it's pulling from the movies for the looks of most of the characters.

No. The only games done in house by Marvel is the MAA games. The other games are done by independent companies with there own contracts.

You can look up the game companies. Just because they are mobile doesn't mean they aren't there own game companies.

Nope. Marvel Heroes is developed by Gazillion and Avengers Academy is done by Tapout.

Two independent companies.

Gazillion's contract is up for renewal in 2017.

i dont even think capcom is capable of putting out another fighting game given they're all focused on street fighter currently.
but if they do take the risk, ill be sure to support it 100%. anyway im cool with no X-characters honestly. seriously there's tons of characters in Marvel why get so hung up on a few ones. just looking at the new characters in mvc3, is a sign that they're able to make anyone look great in a fighting game. im glad we had characters like Nova, Strange, Dorm, Hawkeye and taskmaster added in rather than seeing cyclops, cable , bone wolverine, iceman and psylocke again ...
