However TLJ was awful both as Star Wars (whoever said, "Let's deconstruct EVERYTHING about what is at it's heart a reconstructionist fantasy! We won't even use the Wilhelm Scream!" should be fired) AND as a film, (every plot point of the previous film was resolved as anticlimactically as possible, Holdo was the worst sort of Designated Hero while Poe had characterization forced on him that wasn't present in the previous film to justify the "He's reckless and will get everyone killed if he doesn't straighten up" thread, and half the film deviated into a completely meaningless casino sideplot that ultimately served no real purpose, and wasted the ONLY INTERESTING CHARACTER in the whole movie) and Solo was just not good, wasting its time dreaming up back story for things that didn't NEED back story (did we REALLY need to learn that "Solo" was anything other than his family's last name like it was in the old EU? And they ruined the Kessel Run (rather than being about Han's piloting ability and the Falcon speed, it was instead about the Magic Super Fuel that had NEVER BEEN MENTIONED BEFORE. And gratuitous CGI creatures).
