Default "Today, Marvel Comics Kills One Of Its Oldest Characters. Permanently."

So, according to Bleeding Cool today in Original Sins 5 (a spin-off miniseries!):

"Marvel Comics kills off one of the oldest and much loved characters in the Marvel Universe.

And it kills the characters off in a stone dead way that means that they just can’t come back. And even if they did you’d expect that they hadn’t really.

It’s cruel, it’s harsh, it’s demeaning and dammit if you aren’t going to want to rip it to shreds. Especially if you’ve been reading Marvel comics for a long time."

    Anyone read this puppy yet?

Well . . . yeah, sort of. I wouldn't say it's as irreversible or as dramatic as Rich is implying, though. This character has died before, and been retconned back to life. More than once, if memory serves.

    Anyway, here's the spoiler:

    spoilers:
Nick Fury "reveals" that Dum-Dum Dugan died in the '60s and has been an LMD ever since.
    end of spoilers

    Seriously?

I would have thought it was someone more important the way Rich was going on about it.

Unless there was some other death in the issue and I missed it, that's it. Nobody dies in the Young Avengers story or the hilarious Zdarsky two-pager.

    I'm.....indifferent to this news.

Sucks for fans of the character, but I'm fine with this.
Spectre: You did this. You have done what I thought impossible. You have forced peace. The whole world. It feels....ordered. The evil is still there in people, but they're afraid to act.

    Superman: They know I'm watching.

He's never been more than a "Hey, I've heard of that guy." type of character to me. Maybe you had to read the original series they were in together.

Only thing really noticeable was his name and how he didnt age, but I cant see anyone crying over him dieing. He just showed up every once in awhile with shield.

This would be the equivalent of DC killing off, say, Sarge Steel.

They could never keep anyone important dead. It wad either Dugan, wingfoot, or someone from midtown high.
