After seeing what happened to Ben in ASM today and realizing what that could possibly mean for Mary Jane going forward I...I think am just going to consider the JMD minis (Ben Reilly: Spider-Man and Spider-Man: The Lost Hunt) as being the current canon. We already know the story ends with MJ firmly with Paul with a lookalike daughter, telling Peter to never call her again, acting catatonic when she does see him, and in return for saving her life from Moira she screams at him about responsibility and stalks off when he innocently asks her to have a cup of coffee

And then Peter gives up on MJ and decides to reward himself with Felicia Hardy.

So we already know it’s going to be a cluster#%€& of epic, character assassination proportions because Wells will no doubt want the reader to sympathize with his incompetent manchild Peter and his sugar daddy Norman the murderer of Gwen Stacy which means tearing down MJ and demonstrating their love is indeed every breakable.

Whether he means doing one where the actress was Spider-Woman or her version of MJ was Spider-Woman has not elaborated at this time. But I would have thought we'd have seen the latter, an MCU-MJ as Spider-Woman, eventually.

I don't think that's what this is considering how many times characters end up being drawn more like their movie counterparts. Maybe there's some weird legal issues because of Sony.

But looks like whoever worked on this picked up an issue with Gwen in it and thought it was Mary Jane. She even has the cheekbones that Romita gave Gwen.

I don't think that's what this is considering how many times characters end up being drawn more like their movie counterparts. Maybe there's some weird legal issues because of Sony.

This reminds me that Bendis' Superman run made a mistake on which Flash was on the page, and Bendis added the "I forgot which Flash I was" line to explain what's up lol.

Either way, I doubt that's an artist's mistake, since she doesn't look like Gwen either.

Checking out the issue itself, Gwen shows up as a floating head:



Though she does look like the MJ who shows up later, although without the headband:



Funnily enough, the artist also got Gwen's headband's color wrong, since it's a pink and black stripped headband lol.

Either way, it's surprising something like this happened, 'cause checking out the issue itself, its writer is Conway.

Gene Colan is the artist, I wonder if he made similar screw ups besides this, or this was a weird one time thing lol.
