I have not read many DC comics, but I really liked the Justice League episode Hereafter Part 2. It showed a much different side of Vandal Savage....

Vandal Savage does not need you giving him praise! He just takes it!

It's from the "Secret Six: Six Degrees Of Devastation" mini series by Gail Simone.

That's a shame.. imagine the carnage they could create!
Before turning on each other lol
Any other good story arcs out there that have fleshed out vandal savage as a character?
I see his first appearance has never been collected in trade?

His recent cameo appearance in Soule's Swamp Thing was probably his best appearance in several years. (And yes, I'm including Demon Knights.) He was still threatening, but he had a certain air of sophistication to him. He loans Capucine his jet, then decides to walk home thousands of miles because he's bored and has nothing better to do. I thought that was a great interpretation of the character-- he's still the caveman playing at CEO/world conqueror.

Yes, while I enjoyed Demon Knights for the Brian-Blessed Savage that we got, my favorite was the brilliant, calculating Savage who was always in control -- until he wasn't, and very suddenly and very frighteningly you would see that beneath this more-than-civilized man was the heart and habit of a Savage.

My personal favorite appearances of the character were Joe Kelly's use of him in Justice League, Grant Morrison's use of him in DC 1 Million, and DnA's use of him in Resurrection Man. I also quite enjoyed his recent appearance in Soule's Swamp Thing, yes.

I think my favorite Vandal Savage stuff was in JUSTICE LEAGUE TASK FORCE, Justice League America (Marc Campos art) and in Secret Six (Gail has a knack for badassery in general but especially among the villains and street levelers)
