....Oh God...
The sobering realization of what this show REALLY means just washed over me like a baptism by acid...
You think the fandom for the Voltron show is toxic? Or maybe the fandom for RWBY is pretty crazy to you? Or how bout how out of pocket the YJ shipping fans can get? Maybe you're even dreading the My Adventures With Superman show's fandom because it's from the people that made Voltron?
CHILD'S PLAY
I present to you a TV show that is specifically called an "adult-cartoon" that deals with mature subjects and has a cast TOTALLY made up of attractive young adults with superpowers-- someone of witch are likely nonbinary or gender fluid. And on top of that you have a young Superman-to-be who has NO SET "Lois Lane" because he's not Clark. Thus his love life is open-ended.
"Shipping wars"? These will be shipping crusades!!
For God's sake, this is effectively more queer feeling, future forward, X-Men in space! Barricade the doors, stock up on food, and pray. The world doesn't end in a bang or a whimper, but rather with this, friends.

I do still feel it far too soon to make such definitely future declarations regarding Jon, Jay, and Jon and Jay, considering they only became a thing last month. Jay could be many things more more than a "Gwen Stacy". I mean, I would certainly hope so, since Gwen evokes fridging more than first love to me. But it's more presently pertinent to continue seeing how Jay and Jon are now, since that's what's going on now and it's only just begun.
(On another note, using heteronormative referent designators for Jon and Jay also feels kind of "hmm" to me for some reason, but that's a whole different thought wheel.)

Speaking of Cosmic Boy, I'm also looking forward to the character journey that Bendis's Cosmic Boy can take, and I hope they handle it with the nuance and depth we were getting in the comics. It'll make for a really fun and introspective take of Cosmic Boy and the concepts of leadership and being a leader.

When I say Gwen Stacy, I'm not speaking about her death or even the fact that she's a woman. I'm talking about the general idea that regardless of her Death she was someone Peter loved when he was very young., but it didn't work out (more of an Ultimate Spider-Man fan myself anyway)
But ultimately, I've had issues with putting Jon in a relationship within the very first arc of his comic to begin with. I'd like to see him date around, get his heart broken a bit. All the powers in the world, but the complex emotions of liking another young person totally throw them out the window. A Superman who looks for that same "love at first" that his parents had, but can't quite get it to work for one reason or another.
In the age of the dating app and casual dating being far more the norm, I think it would've been fun while not making him seem like a "playboy" Tony Stark type.

That sounds like an interesting character but it doesn't really read as Mon-El to me. And not someone I'd rather see any of the female Legionnaires involved with.
Although it's interesting that that's what Bendis came up with knowing about the reception to Mon-El on Supergirl.
This just reminds me how in YJ the sex is more implied. The one time they actually show a sex scene it's with two adults and not any of the young heroes...also, poor Black Lightning.
I guess that begs the question whether he'll be "Superman" ala the Legion cartoon and currently in the comics or go by Superboy. Although now they have a clear character divider between him and his dad rather than have them exist in the same space like Peter and Miles do at times.
You can definitely tell his heart isn't in Avengers because it seems like he cares more about writing about everything else other than the Avengers. Not that I can really see him on Legion though it would probably turn into a really wacky cosmic book.
But the dude who wrote the capital-F Final word on the very idea of comic Thor? The dude who made an extremely compelling case and ambitious and totally sustainable set up for Jane-Thor? Yeah, you give that dude the next generation of Superman who isn't constrained to the same preconceptions as Clark, a high profile art team, and that dude gives you back some next level shit nearly 100% of the time.
I'm a fan of romance in my fiction but I'm more into them incorporating and building up established Legion relationships rather than fulfilling Shipping Fuel.
I guess that's what Jon is for but the only way that works is if they pair him up with someone who isn't already paired in an established Legion relationship or they treat Jon as the starter relationship before they end up with who they should.
I guess for some people the last time they saw Cosmic Boy in a cartoon was in season 2 of last LoS cartoon where he was the leader who was always hard on everyone and causing conflict. I guess there's no place to go but up from there, especially when you're not voiced by Wesley Crusher .
Well, I mean, it's a reboot, so it's new.
Bendis may do the thing he was setting up in his run where everyone calls him Superman, but Jon keeps asking to be called Superboy because he's too scared to take that leap yet.I guess that begs the question whether he'll be "Superman" ala the Legion cartoon and currently in the comics or go by Superboy. Although now they have a clear character divider between him and his dad rather than have them exist in the same space like Peter and Miles do at times.
"Established"? Established to who? I mean, not only is Legion such a lesser known IP that basically no one that isn't a super knows or cares who Sun Boy has dated in past continuities, but this is also a flat out REBOOT. What's "established" in past continuities matters only as far as a reference or general inspiration goes. Who they "should" end up with is only a suggestion or possiblity.I guess that's what Jon is for but the only way that works is if they pair him up with someone who isn't already paired in an established Legion relationship or they treat Jon as the starter relationship before they end up with who they should.

THIS is a shockingly great idea that I'd be totally down for. Batman of the 31st century imagined not as some teched out Robocop, but rather a young man who's so damn good at fighting that it may as well be superhuman. Each new and obscure martial art from across the galaxy may as well be a new gadget. Bat shaped throwing stars? Cute. Try a 25th century air palm technique. Camouflage? How about slowing down your breathing and flow of chi so much that reality has trouble registering you as there!
This could totally be a thing. Plus, as an added bonus it would do away with the charming yet dated and limiting (and likely trademarked) "Karate Kid" name.
I had a similar thought assuming Ultra Boy would be the Superman/Superboy of the 31st century, and that would be the last straw for Mon-El. But I could still see Mon-El finally earning the title and learning some humility. Bendis wouldn't stop talking about how much he was excited for what he had in mind for Mon.

Not necessarily. Jon coming out got DC the most mainstream attention they’ve had in a long time. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have him date a male Legionnaire.
It would be kind of funny if Jon comes out to the LoS and they’re like “yeah…and?”. It’s the 31st century. They don’t have all the hang ups of our time.
What if they had Jon date Brainiac 5. A twist on the Bronze Age Supergirl romance.
