Woah, lot of new and interesting books here...

House of El - Claudai Gray doing her own version of the El family? After her work on Star Wars, I am totally in.

I am not Starfire - Obviously a Starfire book, but the title is interesting. Curious what kind of take on Kori they're going for.

Mister Miracle - Always done for more Scott Free (and hopefully Barda). Curious how this will compare to what King did. Maybe more in-line with the Mera and Catwoman books?

Nubia - Not a character I expected to get her own book.

Swamp Thing - Kind of generic beyond what it's about. A young adult take on Swamp Thing and Abigail Arcane?

Victor & Nora - Was not expecting a Mr. Freeze young adult book...but I can see how their relationship would lend itself well to that kind of format.

You brought me to the Ocean - Aquaman?

Arkhamaniacs - A "Tiny Titans" take on the Arkham villains? Sounds like they're going for a deliberate "Animaniacs" reference.

Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld - Always nice to see them do more with Amethyst.

    Batman and Robin...and Howard - So...uh, who's Howard :P?

Dear Super-Villains - Wasn't expecting a sequel to "Dear Justice League" about villains. Curious who all they'll use.

Green Arrow: Stranded - So younger Oliver Queen stuck on the island?

Lois Lane - A Lois book is cool. "Metropolis Grove" also sounds interesting...

    Johnny Constantine - "Johnny Constantine" I can't even .

Zatanna - Yay! Two Zatanna books .

    That is Aqualad I think.

Funny Nubia gets a book but the guys who are left out-Black Lightning, Cyborg & Vixen are the ones on tv shows. Then folks wonder why no one cares about them.

Almost everyone else is in show, movie or in an upcoming project.

Ah, I thought I saw another Aqualad book. That makes sense.

I think this is something DC takes pitches on instead of just automatically looks to use certain characters rather then others. I don't think being in movies or other projects is really a factor.

Aw, I liked those names, but I'm glad at least the books and general direction is continuing.

Should we change the name of the thread?

Yeah, personally I'd have liked a Steel book, or maybe Cyborg. How's the whole DC/Milestone thing work again? Because Static would be a good fit here.

It's cool to see DC making use of Amethyst. Hopefully they don't screw the project up.
I'm surprisingly interested in that "Johnny Constantine" book.

And all I know of Amethyst are those old DC Nation shorts on CN, but that was great!

Eh, I'd say wait till we know more before crying foul here. Could be good. Aimed at a younger audience doesn't mean they'll destroy a character. Even Constantine had to have gone through a time before all the cigarettes, drinking, cursing, and hexing.

Joker: Killer Smile and The Question: The Many Deaths of Vic Sage coming to Black Label. There's a lot of Joker stories in this line for some reason, but the Question is a change of pace.

Read the Raven title from the DC Ink/YA series. Thought it was pretty good. Curious about the Beast Boy spinoff. Have also heard good things about the Harley Quinn one by Mariko Tamaki.

What is the difference between Black Label and Young Animal (what Doom Patrol is grouped with)?

Young Animal is more quirky and doesn't necessarily have to do with any of the main DCU characters.

Is anyone reading the (now formerly) Zoom and Ink books? I don't see much of them talked about.

I've read just about all of the ones out currently. If you get past the fact that they aren't in continuity and are targeted to a different market than you, they're actually pretty solid reads. If DC can hit that Scholastic sweet spot Marvel seems to get have down with Moon Girl, Ms. Marvel and the likes, these could be pretty solid hits for them.
Last Read: Aquaman & The Flash: Voidsong

Monthly Pull List: Alan Scott: The Green Lantern, Birds of Prey, Daredevil, Geiger, Green Arrow, Justice Ducks, Justice Society of America, Negaduck, Nightwing, Phantom Road, Shazam!, Suicide Squad: Dream Team, Thundercats, Titans

There were some discussion about the Mera, Catwoman, and Raven books, but not that much. But the people who read them tended to like them. Haven't seen much discussion about the Harley Quinn book.

I picked up the Superman of Smallville & Super Sons books for my kids and read them both. They were pretty good. I liked Smallville more, it’s goofy fun. But it skewed way younger than I thought, though my 8 year old enjoyed it a lot. she’s a big Raina Telgemeier fan already, so I think some of the older skewing books would work for her. My son liked Super Sons, but preferred the Tomasi series overall. Had no issues with the different versions though. Kinda funny how little kids care about continuity.

The Black Canary and Catwoman books look interesting. I’ve seen some good reviews for Harley Quinn Breaking Glass as well.
