Beloved Saturday Night Live cast and NBC family member, the irresistibly funny Kenan Thompson stars in a new family comedy that delivers on his undeniably charming and wondrously magnetic personality. In the series, Kenan strives to be a super dad to his two adorable daughters, while balancing his job and a father-in-law who “helps” often in the most unhelpful ways. Kenan's got a lot to juggle, but if anyone can do it, he can!

Most shows do the opposite or both are around. In the case of a black lead show-we tend to see the mother in law.

The IMDB blurb says he's a widower. The setup sounds like Odd Couple just with kids.

What Sky said Plus since it’s a show with a black lead in the past they tried to put his mini non-Black people as possible in the main cast so it doesn’t feel like a black shell depending on the network. That is if the mother-in-law would be white.. because since we don’t know what the mother of the kids is the mother-in-law could be white or she could be mixed or another race or Kenan sitcom wife could be adopted.. quite a few options they could go with

    Well taken from the website:

The show centers on the familial relationships as Kenan tries to reclaim his life after his wife's death. Kenan's daughters are his world – the too smart Aubrey (Dani Lane) and the silly, unpredictable Birdie (Dannah Lane). He struggles to balance parenting them as a single dad and hosting his show, which leads him to reluctantly accept help from his father-in-law, Rick. Rick was a gallivanting sax player when his daughter, Cori (Niccole Thurman), was young and missed out on a lot of her childhood, so he is aiming to make that up with his granddaughters, although his old-school parenting style does not often match up to Kenan's.

So Niccole Thurman is playing the wife, presumably in flashbacks for both Kenan and Rick.

'Star Wars' issued a statement condemning the racist harassment of Krystina Arielle, but fans are calling it 'hypocritical'

"Star Wars" has condemned "bullying and racism" directed at Krystina Arielle - but many fans are underwhelmed by the statement, seeing it as long overdue.

Arielle was recently announced as the host of "The High Republic Show," an upcoming web series that will explore the creation of the new "High Republic" series of comics and books.

Arielle has since been subjected to racist vitriol from corners of the Star Wars fandom, largely in response to her tweets condemning systemic racism in the US.

Arielle, who is Black, was recently announced as the host of an upcoming web series.

But fans criticized the move as "hypocritical" following past harassment of cast members of color.

Arielle has since been subjected to racist vitriol from corners of the Star Wars fandom, largely in response to her tweets condemning systemic racism in the US.

On Friday, the official "Star Wars" account on Twitter responded to the mounting harassment: "Our Star Wars community is one of hope and inclusivity. We do not stand for bullying and racism. We support @KrystinaArielle."

Many fans were appreciative of the statement, describing it as "important."

However, many were also quick to note past failures by the franchise to protect its cast members of color.

"Great to see Lucasfilm/Disney realize they should stand up for members of their community who face unspeakable, hateful harassment," The Verge's Julia Alexander wrote. "It's still infuriating they did not do this for John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran, Daisy Ridley."

"This is good. We as fans should always ask for better."

So Disney's not allowed to learn a lesson about sticking up for their actors when they are unfairly harassed?

If they had said nothing, these same people would have still called them out.

I think it’s an aggravated issue because they failed to stand up for the larger scale and more popular movie actors, and are getting more vocal on a much more limited project now... plus, it’s clear that they allowed some creators to actively denigrate and demote Finn and pimp out Rey when they were making the ST.
Like action, adventure, rogues, and outlaws? Like anti-heroes, femme fatales, mysteries and thrillers?

I wrote a book with them. Outlaw’s Shadow: A Sherwood Noir. Robin Hood’s evil counterpart, Guy of Gisbourne, is the main character. Feel free to give it a look: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asi...E2PKBNJFH76GQP

    Yes.

Disney/Star Wars/Lucasfilm's statement now is a bit like medicine after death.

Boyega, Ridley and Tran were really and i mean REALLY harassed on social media.

On the Marvel side, people made social media careers (and I mean that literally) from attacking Brie Larson. Disney kept silent about all this. Folks have made careers attacking ALL of Marvel's minority and female creators, and Marvel/Disney has kept quiet about this. The whole comicsgate/starwarsgate communities are thriving now because Disney kept silent about all this and they really can't put the genie back in the bottle.

It's good the Star Wars team is speaking out but a lot more should have been done much earlier.

On this site, I often see people complain about female comic villains becoming antiheroes once they become popular. Looking over it, I think this is really just white villains this mostly happens to rather than poc ones.
