Okay. Callbacks to Rebirth (Isadore Cale), Odyssey (Nemesis), Marston (Steve in sickbed), and the movie (Steve saying to Diana she can save the world). Wilson is clearly here to pick up as many worthwhile pieces as she can.
Love Aphrodite's putdown on Diana's and Steve's tender moment.
She's got a good voice for Veronica so far. Loved the references to Izzy right on the first page, I knew that had to be part of the fallout.
Love Steve the difficult patient/dutiful house husband, and being uncomfortable about Aphrodite judging his performance (because she totally is lol).
The artwork is a continued improvement on the Just War as well. Looks like Wilson is indeed finding her groove at this point.
Well, right now it's Jesus Merino on pencils. I'm not sure what DC editorial is doing on the artist side with Wonder Woman right now, but clearly they are having trouble. Luckily, Xermanico, Lupacchino, and Merino seems to mesh rather well together.
I wonder if losing Nord/taking him off the title was a last minute thing and they are scrambling to find a regular replacement. Was that confirmed anywhere?
Though yeah at least they all have similar styles.
According to solicits, Nord is back on issues #66–68, and then it's Xermanico again for #69.
Though I wonder why they didn't pick Stjepan Sejic for a one-shot with a suburb crazed by lust. Probably afraid of what the result would have been…
Well, the art is getting better so that's a plus.
Currently(or soon to be) Reading: Alan Scott: Green Lantern, Batman/Superman: World's Finest, Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Jay Garrick: The Flash, Justice Society of America, Power Girl, Superman, Shazam, Titans, Wesley Dodds: Sandman, Wonder Woman, & World's Finest: Teen Titans.
Merino has really grown as an artist in his own right and it's been nice to follow his growth just in the pages of WW alone (where he is had plenty of fill ins to work on it.) I am also really enjoying GWW's work on the book. I actually look forward to this title every other week.
As far as the art goes...I would love for us to rotate between Xermanico, Lupachinno and if a third is needed Merino is a perfect addition.
This is a big arc for me. I've been a little disappointed so far with Willow's run. Not that I think it's been bad, it just hasn't been all that great either. Maybe I was so pumped about a new creative team, and I heard so much about her, I was hoping to come out the gates like, this is Wonder Woman! But so far that just hasn't happened for me. Hopefully things really get going now. It does look interesting for sure.
The thing that immediately leapt out at me is how the story parallels the JMS Thor reboot, with the Asgardians popping up on Earth in mortal bodies and no memory of their former selves.
The art and the writing for the dialogue between Diana and Steve don’t quite click here, and it’s a good example of just how much of a difference a good artis can make. Some of the panels where the two are talking have the characters faces appearing to wooden, and I think it cuts across the emotions Wilson is trying to communicate.
The same is true of Nemesis. She looks like an escapee from Kirby’s Fourth World, not Olympus. I’d half expect Big Barda or Granny Goodness to show up.
Final point - a magnetic INVERSION is not the field ballooning outwards. It’s a reversal of the field’s polarity, causing magnetic north and south to swap. Historically we know they have occurred (but not why).

If ten years of recording The Young and the Restless for my mother have taught me anything, it's that characters in serial dramas are always happily in love...until they're not

Yes! Steve gives her the sword in one of the scans. Yes! more action sword feats from super human red sonja is all we need. gww is such a good writer for WW........................
Regarding Cale...
...is it a bit of a trope that the female villain has to be motivated by some irrational, emotional turmoil? That’s not Wilson’s decision of course - Rucka put that in motion.

Could Cale be a good villain? One that isn’t a Luthor?
