What is Vol 2 of WW like? I'm just over halfway through the first Perez omnibus and I love it, 'Challenge of the Gods' was awesome!

I'm up to the Heroic Age in my modern Marvel reading order. I'm enjoying this more than Dark Reign and Siege.
Hickman's first three issues of Fantastic Four were really good. Where Reed contacts other versions of himself.
The two surprise hits were Iron-Man #150 and The Adam Strange Archives. I loved everything about that Iron-Man issue. The story, the JRJR art. I didn't care for the connecting story in 250 quite as much.
On a whim i requested the Adam Strange Archives from my local library. They had to do an inter-library loan, but it only took them a week to get the books in. I only requested vol. 1 but for some reason they sent 1 and 2.
Its still you're standard villain of the month Silver Age story lines. But i enjoyed the art and it was fun seeing what weird thing Adam Strange would come up with to beat the bad guy.
I might ask for Vol. 3 eventually. I would like to check out silver age Hawkman as well.
The Taskmaster mini series was weird. It started out great and then it turns him into some kind of tragic character. I can come to accept it, but I always enjoyed the more silly takes on him.

update:
Suicide Squad Rebirth HC v1 (10) - Jim Lee's art couldn't save this one (it in itself was surprisingly forgetable). I was really hoping for something to keep me invested, but this wasn't my cup of tea i guess. I feel like SS would work best as a "real world" black ops squad, and leave alone the mystical/super powered baddies. This doesn't need to be JL-lite. We already have one team book that sucks, and now there's two.
Seven to Eternity TP v2 (5) - Pretty solid going for Remender and crew. He's starting to make me sympathize with the antagonist, which was unexpected.
Darth Vader Omni (29) - This was great. Was putting it off 'cause i wanted to save it, but couldn't wait any longer. I think it was tomslick who mentioned it before, but Gillen really nailed Vader's voice, and Dr. Aphra and her doom droids were a great mirror against the Star Wars series.
Fables HC v1 (10) - Finally gonna crack into this series proper. I read the first two trades years ago and liked it, but like so many others, got put off for whatever reason. So this was more of a refresher. Look forward to getting to "new" material soon.
*edit: I also read a few digital issues i was curious about. Rick & Morty #1 (i don't get the hype), Invader Zim #1 (was alright), and Teen Titans Go #34 (i think?)
891 + 57 = 948 for the year

Haven't updated in a few weeks.
The Defenders #1-7: Decent weirder and more dysfunctional than usual superhero stories.
Superman Adventures #1: Excellent Superman standalone by Timm and Dini, pitting him against an attempt by Luther to frame him.
Eightball #11: An issue of the anthology series with one of Clowe's best-known short pieces "Caricature" (about the brief relationship between a struggling artist and a young woman with serious issues) among other things.
Secret Avengers (Nick Spencer) #1-16: Some interesting takes on black ops involving characters seen in the Avengers films, but often convoluted and not very satisfying.
Avengers Volume 3 #16-18: This fill-in story has nice art by Ordway, but I don't really care for the villains and challenge as much (the Wrecking Crew and Akron's world).
Shock Suspenstories #1-6: This is more intense than the usual EC, with decapitations and lynchings. Also has much of the social commentary. Likely Exhibit A in the trials that came after Seduction of the Innocent.
The Nameless #1-6: It's a beautifully illustrated horror comic that I'll probably have to reread given the twists, and revelations that change how the story can be seen.
Sin City: That Yellow Bastard #1-6: Sin City seems to be more of an ultranoir than noir, and this story of a framed cop taking on the son of a Senator for the life of a girl is the ultimate example of that.
Graphic Novel #52: Blue is the Warmest Color: Beautifully told coming of age story that starts as a romance, and then takes some dark but satisfying turns.
Total So Far: 1,631 Issues, 52 Graphic Novels
Personal Challenge Progress: 100 Issues from the 2010s complete, 100 issues from the 2000s complete, 73 issues from the 1990s, 63 issues from the 1980s, 75 issues from the 1970s, 92 issues from the 1960s, 21 issues from the 1950s, 31 issues from the 1940s, 65 black & white issues, 100 issues from Comics Journal's Top 100 complete, 52 Graphic Novels complete
Best of the Batch: I'll go with Blue is the Warmest Color.
Sincerely,
Thomas Mets
