Already started. The Shuri book is the biggest indicator of that.
Rise and the cartoon version (and even the MCU version) make sense because neither version has yet to become a Black Panther (the position is bound to affect someone one way or the other, and Shuri’s personality shift happened then). MCU Shuri is still a teenager so her demeanor is very understandable.
Comic Shuri behaving that way doesn’t make any sense whatsoever, considering what she went through. She’s been an adult for some time now, so why is she behaving like a teenager? Also, why would she need protection in her own country, and especially in a non-hostile area like a market? She’s a former BP with mystical powers. She can (or should be able to) handle herself in such a landscape.
I’m leaning that direction too. I’ll give the book a chance but my expectations have really lowered.
This book is basically MCU Shuri with Griot powers.
My big fear is that all these changes have been done and the book tanks, meaning it was all for naught. Very likely this will occur, being that historically the MCU rarely (if ever) affects book sales.
