    End of April update:

    Aquaman New 52 Vol. 3 & 4 TPBs (15)

    - I loved this run so much, it was utterly fantastic and pretty much everything I look for in a superhero comic. The ending was pretty fast paced (maybe a little too fast), but very satisfying. I would’ve liked to see some more of the series as it seems Johns wasn’t quite done with it when it ended, but that’s okay. The run started incredibly strong and just got better. The art once again was perfect. Ivan Reis’ work is just gorgeous, and Pelletter’s style, while different, is equally as good. The transition between the two wasn’t that jarring either, likely due to the colourist staying the same. Throne of Atlantis is by far one of my favourite stories I’ve read in recent memory, it was a wonderful fusion of big, widescreen action, engaging characters, a fun plot and sensational artwork. I’ve fallen off a bit with Johns’ Justice League because it didn’t hook me in, but if it’s quality is anything like this, I might have to stick with it.

The Flash by Geoff Johns Book 3 TPB (12)

    - This was a great continuation of the story. I came into this book very exciited for the Blitz arc, but I was pleasantly surprised to see how strong the preceding Gorilla Grodd story was. Johns is fantastic at playing the long game, and this is well-demonstrated here. Hunter Zolomon’s story is a blast to see unfold, and the ending of the book suggests a very interesting new direction going forward. Great art as always. Excited to finish off this series.

Chew: The Omnivore Edition Book 1 OHC (10)

    - Fabulous. I enjoyed this book so much. It was funny, it was creative, it was stylish, it was just superb. The art and writing go hand-in-hand, and I really love the construction of the actual hardcover itself. I’ll be powering through the next few Omnivores as this series has got me hooked.

    update:

    light week, only

Whiteout Compendium (8) - Combines the original Whiteout (murder mystery) and follow-up Whitout: Melt. This was very early comics work for Rucka, and you could tell. The stories were still very compelling, with the familiarity of a strong female lead that appears to have always been a Rucka callling-card

    &

Checkmate by Rucka TP v1 (12) - Mostly obscure characters (at least for me) that Rucka involves in interesting dilemmas. I think i enjoyed it more because of that.

Was Ninjak v2 any better than the first volume? I didn't really enjoy much after the first arc, with all the dead world stuff, and i wanted to know if it changed direction at all

I liked the first one. But I haven't read Shadowman, so I can't relate on the dead world from that angle. In volume two Roku is the main character of the issues, and with her also a link to the dead world. But it isn't placed in the deadworld as much as the first book. I liked it.

I don't care for Shadowman, or the deadworld for that matter, at all. Those books (and the first bloodshot series) are the only Valiant HCs i don't have. I guess it surprised me being involved with Ninjak. It's not what i was expecting, or wanting, from a Ninjak series tbh. Roku was interesting though, so i suppose I'll have to try out v2 since the focus seems to shift a bit.

The focus is on the, I don't want to spoil to much, origin and how they become Ninjak and Roku etc.

I actually hit 1000 comics for this year about a month ago. Here's the highlights of readings that contributed a lot of issues:
    - All of Annihilation, Annihilation Conquest, War of Kings Prelude, War of Kings, Realm of Kings
    - Avengers (1998) #1-84, 500-503, Finale
    - Thunderbolts #1-75
    - Cable & Deadpool #1-50
    - Doctor Strange (2015) #1-26, 381-389
    - Guardians of the Galaxy by Brian Michael Bendis Omnibus
    - Moon Knight (2005) #1-30, Vengeance of the Moon Knight #1-10, Moon Knight (2014) #1-17, Moon Knight (2016) #1-14
    - New Avengers (2004) #1-64, Finale, Annual #1-3
    - Silver Surfer by Dan Slott #1-15, 1-14
    - Spider-Man (Miles Morales 2016 series) #1-28
    - Jason Aaron's Thor - Thor: God of Thunder #1-25, Thor (2014) #1-8, Mighty Thor (2015) #1-23, 700-706
    - Uncanny X-Men (original series) Giant-Size #1, #91-175

Other than there there's a whole lot of miniseries I read, or series where I only read 10 or 15 issues, so I figure it's best just to include the lengthy runs. Anyone interested in what else I've read can check out my comicbookroundup profile, I rate pretty much every single comic I read.

Another "weeks" worth of reading to update you all on!

Siegfried vol 2. 4 issues. This was a random book i bought as i loved what Archaia was publishing. Beautiful art work and a great read all topped off with great production value. Well worth getting if you can.

Caravaggio 3 issues. Another beautiful book but the story was a little meh. Not sure where they are going with this book.

Last sons of America 4 issues. Okay book over all but not great. It is a nice idea and had a lot of potential but just too on the nose with its execution. The world had more potential than they utilised. Nice idea. Glad it was a digital purchase.

Carthago adventures 13 issues. Interesting but not as good as the other shark carthago book. Some beautiful art.

Dave2 4 issues. Not as good as the first series which i loved and was tempted to buy the HC, but i have them all digitally and I can't justify the HC conversion.

Strangers in paradise 3 issue. Loved it, it was a digital purchase and I'm impressed. Going to buy the hardcover at some point.

Velvet 15 issues. Amazing. The art, the story the idea the execution. Loved it all.

Marvel legacy. 10 issues. Okay intro to the new worlds but overall a little dull. the One million BC issue was good.

Annihilation OHC vol 1 and 3. 20 issues Loved this series back in the day and the reread still lives up to it. I'm going to work my way through the Marvel Sci Fi books this year.

    This "week" 75 issues
