    Default Dragonball M: A DBZ RPG Sign-Up and Discussion Thread.

    Welcome to Dragonball Memory.



    Long, long ago there were eighteen universes, and Lord Zeno ruled over them all. According to the Grand Priest, at some point, Lord Zeno destroyed six of them.


    This is not true.


    Lord Zeno did not destroy these universes, but instead sealed them away for reasons only he and the Grand Priest were ever aware of, instead spreading the tale that in a fit of anger he had destroyed them, using this as a warning to the surviving universes to mind themselves and beware his anger.


    Our story takes place in one of these sealed away universes, Universe 15. It is here, on it's Earth, that our story begins (Universe 15 has no idea it's been sealed away, of course. Only it's God of Destruction and Supreme Kai know the truth. Maybe.). This is where we shall uncover the truth of why the universes were sealed away, and what the true fates of these universes are, for all is not what it seems, and even Lord Zeno does not know what lay in their future.

    Welcome! In this game you'll be playing denizens of Universe 15's Earth. You are free to play any race you wish (human, cyborg, alien, dealer's choice, just run it by me first if it's something original), and you'll all start off at a power level of 50. The game will level you up as you post and interact and fight, so not everyone will power up at the same rate. However, things won't ever get too far apart I'd imagine. The last one everyone was within a few thousand of each other as a reference.

    Now, a few things. This Earth is pretty much the same as standard DB Earth, with a few exceptions. Capsule Corp exists (somewhat less a monopoly here), but is run by the Pants family instead. This Earth has a somewhat more advanced space program, so aliens living on Earth is more known/accepted. Magic exists, and you are more than welcome to play a magic user too, just don't expect to drop things like Pre-Crisis Fate or Classic Strange level stuff just yet. Also, please keep super powers/abilities in check. Things like Telepathy are allowed, but don't expect me to allow Charles Xavier type mental shut downs. If you have a question about a power/ability, just run it by me first.

    Anyways, the next post will be the character sheet. Any questions you have, please feel free to post them after the character sheet is posted or PM me.

    The Crimson Spirit of Bounteous Destruction

    Originally, the Spirit of Bounteous Destruction was never designed for combat purposes. The lessons that were offered to Ishtar over the course of several thousands of years, are simply aspects of the "good", and the "bad" used as a means of balancing her nature while also teaching the blue-skinned Oni how to think, and be. In summary, it is simply a way of life. Yet over the course of those thousands of years, and thanks to a blending of instinct, and Ki/Magical energy; each lesson eventually manifested outwardly. While some of the manifestations were/are useful for protection, and combat, this left Ishtar at a disadvantage until recently. Thanks to the guidance and training of Sarada however; the Oni has been given a strong foundation in attack, defense thanks to the Style of the Crimson Fist. Additional training at the hands of Tasure (refinement), and two months worth of sparring with Asha'rah, allowed Ishtar to build upon the foundation offered by Crimson Fist and make the style her own. Now known as the Crimson Spirit of Bounteous Destruction, Ishtar's way of live has been supplemented by the newfound martial knowledge, allowing her to attack, parry, counter, and capitalize on openings offered by her opponents to deliver massive damage with precise timing and minimal movement; creating a unique fighting style known only by one.

    HISTORY
    Dino School and The Ogatan Clan
    Long ago, massive creatures called dinosaurs roamed the lands. They still do, but they once posed as humanity's greatest foe, threatening to snuff out the fledgling species before they could even thrive. Several of these small early tribes of humans decided to join forces, becoming one in order to utilize the skills of their greatest warriors and hunters. Initially, it was only through a tremendous feat of skill, bravery, and luck that they could fell a dinosaur, but with practice and experience, such feats grew to become commonplace. Over time, the threat of the dinosaurs had become nothing more than hazy memories in the minds of the tribe's elders, yet the skills and techniques continued on, practiced and perfected against their fellow man as they clashed against hostile tribes. They survived on the fear they sown in their potential enemies, and ensured their safety through the brutality they delivered against those who would do them harm. As generations passed and peace persisted, such a brutal and violent style drew harsh criticisms and disdain from outsiders, making it difficult for the Dino School to be formally recognized as a martial arts, and even after it was, its practitioners would find it difficult to interact with the other schools. Some of the masters of the Dino School of martial arts would begin to contemplate whether or not such a brutal and violent style as their own should exist long after their purpose fulfilled and as a result, they withdrew from society as hermits, reluctant to take in students. Those that persisted, proudly and defiantly, like the Ogatan clan, would be systematically pushed away as their participation in organized tournaments or events would be restricted, if not outright banned.

    In this current day, the Dino School of martial arts finds itself much like its ancient foes: relics of a time long passed, forced to survive in the wilderness.

    Charco
    As a child, Yakiniku Charco was quite the handful. Always energetic and mischievous, he provided no end of woes for his parents in his early life. His father sought to put this energy to use through sports, and while Charco enjoyed them, he proved too aggressive for his peers. This would prompt his mother to attempt to subdue these tendencies of his through herbal medicine and vigorous studies, and while this would prove to make him a relatively intelligent child (or at least kept him from being below-average otherwise), he would occasionally lash out, picking fights or getting into trouble. He couldn't help but feel that something was wrong with him, a feeling that would be confirmed after overhearing an argument between his parents one night. From what he learned, he had been "cursed" by those of his mother's family. Charco had never met them, as his mother had cut off all contact with them before his birth, but he knew that to cure this curse, he would need to confront the Ogatan clan.

    And so, this eight-year-old boy would begin plotting out his journey, and eventually left home one night while his family slept. His trek was easy going at the start, but it was when his route drove him deep into the wilderness that he realized he had underestimated the scope of his task. The boy might have perished out there, had it not been for an elderly hermit who found him and gave him shelter. The hermit called herself Tyranno-sensei, explaining that she had once been the head of a great dojo who once fought against great and terrible beasts. Piquing the boy's interest, he asked her to train him, so as to fight off those that cursed him. Although reluctant, Tyranno-sensei said she would consider it, if his parents approved.

    By the time daylight broke, word that a search party seeking out Charco had reached the hermit and the two of them went to meet the others. His parents, grateful for the return of their son, sought to thank Tyranno-sensei, only for their relief to turn to horror. The young boy would discover that Tyranno-sensei was his grandmother and one of the dreaded Ogatan clan he had been looking for. Confused that someone that had rescued him could be evil, he inquired about his curse, only to learn that it was not a real curse, but rather the deposition society once held for them. He might have been rambunctious and bit more aggressive than need be, but nothing was truly wrong with him. While it would take time, his family began to mend and as a result, his grandmother held true to her promise to train him, although it would now be to protect those he cared for.

    *Charco's given name is a play on "Charcoal", while his currently recognized family name, Ogatan, is the term for a type of Japanese charcoal made from sawdust.
    *Charco's real surname is Yakiniku, having changed it to his mother's surname upon taking up the mantle of heir to the Dino School. Yakiniku is a term for Japanese barbeque (literally translated as "grilled meat").
    *As you can imagine for a martial arts style called the Dino School, it's techniques are all based on the names of dinosaurs. The Hidoi Tsume is the rough Japanese translation of "Terrible Claw", whose Greek translation is the basis of the Deinonychus, whose appearance and features are often misattributed to the Velociraptor.
    *Inspiration for Charco's character concept was based on the PuToTyra combo from Kamen Rider OOO.

    Ki Sensing: Jera has been taught how to sense energy.
    Another World's Illusion: Jera creates an illusionary double of herself thanks to the magic of the Demon Realm. While fully autonomous within its maximum range (equal to Jera's power level in meters), it possesses only a minuscule amount of ki and can therefore be told apart from the real thing easily as long as one focuses on sensing it..
    Another World's Sacrifice: Jera's specialty, by transferring her ki to her illusionary double, she can temporarily make it able to interact with objects, though its strikes aren't as powerful as the real thing would be.

    Items: Otherwordly Clothes: Jera's clothes are made from a material not native to Earth and that is exceptionally resilient to most forms of assaults. However as they are no thicker than normal clothes, they offer very little in the way of actual protection.

    History: A young(?) girl who doesn't quite match any species originating on Earth, she first appeared not long ago and seems remarkably ignorant of the local cultures and locations.

    History:
    As a teenager, Zaofan was a nomad and thief wandering in the outskirts between deserts and jungles, preferring the warm climate and the dangers that came with it to keep him on his toes. No longer content to be aimless, Zaofan sought to hone his skills by observing the Hokuto Shin Ken style, and its Master Ryu Shingen, from atop a neighboring building. While he initially excelled, he found their brutal teachings to be unnecessarily lethal, and realized he only wanted to improve himself much more than gain the ability to inflict harm.

    He left the discipline in his late teens and returned to the nomadic lifestyle, but still seeking to attain his best. Instead, in his early twenties and using the skills he mimicked from the Hokuto Shin Ken style, he was accepted into the Neo Crane School, finding appeal in its emphasis on developing and cultivating internal power and balance as overall holistic self-improvement. He studied under Master Yakimesh Toh Magoh, but did not get to know him well. Ironically, as he came to know his fellow students more, he began to leave his nomadic ways behind and became more curious of the social world until he encountered the elites of his school, whom he found to be unnecessarily cold, rigid, and temperamental, especially towards the less experienced -- as it turns out the Neo Crane School was a false copy. Such bullying caused him to leave the Neo Crane School.

    On his travels, Zaofan took notice of the Turtle School and Master Eskramoto, with its focus on strategic and tactical approaches to fighting, adopting the approach that self-improvement includes improving interaction with others. Thus, in his late twenties, Zaofan began adopting a more spiritually inclusive view of martial arts.

    Because of Zaofan's nomadic nature, he is a student of three disciplines and yet master of none. While he is an excellent fighter, he does not quite excel in any one art as much as he could have had he focused more. A primarily Turtle student or a Crane student of similar levels will know more of their techniques than Zaofan. Nevertheless, this diversity of styles has developed into a unique fighting approach all his own that combines the self and the other, the physical and the mental, balance and variety. This approach has more often than not caught his opponents off guard and out of focus.

    Other: Zaofan gained the power of the Optic Blast by combining the teachings of his first two disciplines -- a failed attempt to fully tap into the Tenryū Kokyū Hō and the Kikoho. The Tenryū Kokyū Hō was supposed to allow Zaofan to tap into his full body potential, with the theory that it would produce an extremely powerful Kikoho blast. However, due to inexperience and lack of practice, the energy gathered by the Tenryū Kokyū Hō and the mental focus required by the Kikoho manifested in and nearly overloaded Zaofan's head. With only one available physical outlet for this energy -- the eyes -- Zaofan unleashed a powerful optic blast for the first time; but thanks to preference of the Optic Blast, he has not successfully mastered more traditional hand energy techniques like the Dodonpa, the Kamehameha, and even the actual Kikoho itself.

    Additionally, Zaofan's wandered interest extends into one of his main hobbies -- the discovery and cooking of breakfast foods. He is an excellent chef of cuisines around the world; again, master of none, valuing diversity of taste over concentration.

    Close, Reimi is the right name, but it was her friend, Sharker's character Cecilly who was a wolf-girl. Reimi was the runaway assassin who's Ki manifested as mirror weapons.
