    I bought about 10 new DC Comics last week but apart from the promising start for the new creative team on Justice League, Batman #36 outshone the sun and made me forget everything else I read.

    It was that special. DC fans are so freaking lucky to have Tom King writing Batman and Mister Miracle right now. Neither character has ever been made more interesting. I realize that's a grand claim about Batman who has been so well done by so many great creators. I'm obviously only stating my opinion though it's not an uncommon one. I do realize some posters here can't stand Tom King's writing and that's okay too. At least there are a lot of other Bat-books to choose from for those that don't dig on King. And it's not like anyone else was using Mister Miracle.

    From where I'm standing Tom King is only competing with Tom King. His two DC books are the best they're publishing and they've both been huge critical and commercial successes. As Bob Dylan sang, of the writers at DC now, all apologies to Priest (whom I love), when it comes to King, "the game is the same, it's just up on another level."

    Nothing new from DC for the first week of the month (though I may still consider DC UNIVERSE HOLIDAY SPECIAL 2017 #1 when I go in this coming Wednesday), but I did buy some random back issues for a buck each:
    * Batman Confidential #43 (June 2010)
    * Countdown to Mystery #8 (of 8 / June 2008)
    * Joker's Asylum: Poison Ivy #1 (September 2008)
    * JSA: Classified #38 (July 2008)
    and for five dollars I got
    Justice League Unlimited: The Ties That Bind tpb (2008)
    (collects issues #16-22)

    But when you don't "dig" on Snyder, Tynion, Bennett, the Bensons, Orlando, Seeley, Humphries, . . . there's not a whole lot of other in-continuity options among current Bat-titles.

    Right. Other than 8 writers, "in continuity" meaning there are more that aren't, there isn't a lot out there. Sad trombone. I'm aware you dislike all of them but I'm sure you're aware no character is being written by more writers.

    No character is currently being written by more writers that I don't enjoy.

    I really haven't had much opportunity to buy my new DC titles in December for December because of a delayed shipment to my comic book shop for one week and my being sick and not going there for the two weeks after that.

    Hoping I'll be able to get what I missed if I go this coming Wednesday (in January 2018).

    Here's what I got from DC when I went in today:
    * Action Comics #993-994
    * Batgirl #18
    * New Super-Man #18
    * Scooby-Doo Team-Up #33
    * Wonder Woman #36-37
    I read the two issues of Wonder Woman so far, and as I feared, that book is being added to my drop list.
