Part of it, and you can chalk it up to a double standard if you want, but there's no way a white writer can even pretend to try to get away with some of the race relations stuff that Priest did. There's no way Asmus can do noogie. Or, when they switch bodies, have Woody put in a dreadlock weave. Hell, there's stuff he's done he probably couldn't have gotten away with either, had Priest not set it up first. So the book comes off a little more as another Archer and Armstrong. Although even that is because Valiant just happens to be the only company with two wacky action partner books.
So while I'm not 100% on board with Asmus' version, it isn't crap either. It's just not the original. The brothers thing is ok. I actually do really like the twist about the Goat. But the best thing about it -- without it, I doubt Priest and Bright would have been lured to do more of the original Q&W.
