Bendis has been gone from the X-Office for like 2 years though. He no longer had any say on their direction even while he was still exclusively with Marvel.

Not sure who that would serve, not counting those fervent O5 haters who want them gone for superficial reasons and who won't let up about it. I'd be pretty tacky to get rid of them like that the second Bendis is out the door.

Well, with the adult Jean coming back and some of the storylines the O5 are dealing with in the future, it sounds like there will be some kind of resolving of their status in the coming months.

Yeah, Blue's supposed to be getting a new roster after the Venom crossover. So Cyclops could go. But if he does, the timing is a coincidence and nothing to do with Bendis's defection.
