Jimenez and Rucka are probably my favorite "speech writers". The one from #170 shown above, as well as the eulogy for Hippolyta (I can't remember if it was #173 or the Our Worlds at War one-shot) are among Jimenez' best. For Rucka, just about every exchange with Ferdinand was golden. He really captured her voice right away in that first run.
Messner-Loebs also "got" Diana, and wrote some very touching speeches. You'll never change my mind that his run would rank much higher amongst fans if he hadn't been saddled with some truly bad art in certain places.
I strongly agree. Hippolyta in the chicken armor flying into space on a kamikaze mission, her death, and the eulogy is all great stuff. And I'll always sing praises for Messner-Loebs' run.
