Default One thing you'd change about current Marvel

If you had the power to change one thing about the current Marvel, what would it be? It could be anything, character changes, creative changes, direction changes, anything.

One thing that has really been bothering me lately is that fact that it seems like there are too many threats that require multiple heroes from multiple books all the time. Just look through any week's books and you'll see that so often a threat, that in the past would have been dealt with by the hero or team of that book alone, is now only defeated when all current Avengers teams and assorted hangers-on show up to assist. It makes the heroes look weaker IMO, because they aren't able to succeed on their own and need the assistance of all their friends. It also makes team-ups less special. Who cares if Spidey is appearing in the next issue of Daredevil, if they were both just in the lasted issue of Mockingbird helping her (and an army of others) defeat a lame-o alien invasion. And 90% of the time, they don't even add anything to the story, they are just seen flying around in the background, punching a generic looking thug. I would love Marvel to go back to the days when the hero, or team, figured out a way to defeat the villains themselves without calling in all their friends.

Stop punishing the comics that Disney does not own the film rights to.

I'd really want to develope multiple imprints/lines and really promote them. Like there'd a horror line, a kid's line, a sci-fi line, a creator owned line a MCU line, etc.

They sorta have a children's line and they have Icon, but I'd expand them

I would have the new Nick Fury be the Ultimate Universe version.

I want an A-list Avengers team with the REAL Cap, Thor, and Iron Man preferably with an A-list creative team on it.

The price. Seriously, there is a lot of product that I want to give a chance without sacrificing other books I enjoy.

They've yet to offer me any comics to write, so I'd change that.

-Pav, who promises he would do right by your favorite characters...
You were Spider-Man then. You and Peter had agreed on it. But he came back right when you started feeling comfortable.
You know what it means when he comes back

I would ditch the "season" model, where every time a writer takes over a book, it starts over again with a new status quo and sometimes a new supporting cast.

Instead I would go back to the older model where new writers try to continue the status quo set by the previous writer, and make it look like their run grows organically out of the last one. They can make changes, of course - but gradually. The approach shouldn't suddenly change with a new team.

Note that this has nothing to do with renumbering. I don't care what the issue numbers are. But I think Marvel and DC have both gotten too concerned with the idea of "jumping-on points" and not enough with creating the illusion of one long continuous soap opera story.

Make Editorial DO THEIR DAMN JOBS and stop giving writers so much carte blanch to do whatever they want. Make sure characters are written CONSISTENTLY from book to book, and establish a clear sense of timing between books. Get rid of THIS attitude:

Stories don't need to be dripping with continuity porn, but no more ignoring major character details just because it doesn't fit the story. IE, ignoring the fact Rachel Grey had total control of the Phoenix Force because the writer wants to force the "Phoenix is an uncontrollable force of destruction and we can't let it approach earth!" should NEVER be allowed to happen. If a story doesn't work because past history is in the way, CHANGE THE DAMN STORY.

    Yeah, I'll agree with that.

Also: Greater diversity among creators. More writers who are black, Latino, Asian, LGBT, disabled, all sorts of things.

    Let's see . . .

    1. Show that a couple can stay together despite hard times (ex: Storm and Black Panther)
    2. Create own superhero identities instead of 'passing the torch' (ex: Captain America, Jane Foster)
    3. Less all-out in fighting.

    May add to list later.
