Default Who Are The DCU's Best Friends?

Any era, any pair (or trio).

    A few limitations:
    • No Mentor/Sidekicks (i.e. Batman/Robin, who are narratively bound together)
    • No "Only Cause They're Only Published On The Same Team Book" (like Robotman/Negative Man, becuase: see above)
    • No Significant Others (that one hurts, cause I love me some Hawks)

    So who?

I think the trinity of duos that exist right below the Trinity are the backbone of the DCU. They'd be Barry & Hal, Hal & Ollie, and Hal playing third wheel with Ollie & Dinah. These four and their various interconnected relationships and genres represent everything that is awesome about superhero comics to me. The mix of personalities is a lot of fun, their backstories of failures and triumphs have real resonance, and they play off of each other perfectly.

    The main ones:

    - Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent.

    - Hal Jordan and Barry Allen.

    - Hal Jordan and Oliver Queen.

    - Dick Grayson and Wally West.

    - Barbara Gordon and Dinah Lance.

    - Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy (when they're not explicit lovers).

Thing is, Green Arrow and Black Canary violate the Significant Other Rule.

    Superman and Batman
Superman and Wonder Woman (all eras except New 52, the mutual attraction is never fully acted upon and things always remain platonic)
    Green Lantern and Flash
    Green Lantern and Green Arrow
Booster Gold and Blue Beetle (they have been on a team before, but the friendship has extended far beyond that).

Dick Grayson has a few great friendships but they all stem from the Titans so I don't know if they can count within these specific parameters.

Yup, they had a team-up during Percy's Rebirth run and Morrison just did another team-up with them in The Green Lantern with Sharp doing his very best Neal Adams impression.

Dc's best Bromance is Damian Wayne and Jon Kent. I also like Dick and Wally but since I started reading comics in the 2000's there really hasn't been much new material for them so I'm going off YJ.

Yeah. There's an entire appreciation thread for him.
