I am all for a diiferent thread. This has become a mish mash of all sorts of talk. And quite francly it has become very scattered and convoluted. I skip lots of the codes and deals because this is just noise and not remotely connected what I expect to "read" in this thread.

    You the man, Charlie Brown!
Yeah, the shelf porn thread pisses me off. I always like it when someone pops up a few pics out of the blue of their collection. Nice surprise. Takes away that element with its own thread.

So basically your answer amounts to ignoring what the majority that have responded clearly want. Sad to see how far this place has fallen. Sad but not unexpected.

What are we even supposed to talk about in here anymore? We're not supposed to talk deals, shipping, collections, or collection pics. I suppose that leaves speculation and discussion of new releases. How long until we are forced on pain of ban to move all that talk into individually segmented threads that allow no discussion other than the strictly regimented and regulated acceptable topics? This place used to be a fun thread to talk about our niche of this hobby. I don't like what this place has become. Conversations and discussions don't magically get better when you clamp down on what people are allowed to say and where they are allowed to say it and separate everything into little sub sections with no room allowed for deviation.

But, but, fun and surprises are bad! Everything must be tightly controlled and regulated at all times! The new order will be glorious!

This thread has not 'become' anything. It has always been this way. Maybe you're not aware of that fact with your 9 posts, but this thread has been pretty much the same for over 5 years now.

    This person understands.

I'm sorry you feel that way.

Since the CBR reboot and multiple bannings, which you should be very familiar with, the Collected editions part is more popular than it ever was. The Community is in the forum, if you ventured outside this thread you would see that. The "vocal minority" only reads the Marvel thread.

    Thank you.

I don't see why people can't understand this. It's like they forget all of the bitching about multiple topics in the old Omnibus thread on the old CBR that made that thread so toxic. We finally have our own forum to spread out in and people just one one jumbled mega thread still.

I personally haven't minded the "bargains" discussion here, but we do have an entire forum for ourselves. People complaining that it's too hard to follow more than one thread are something else.

It seems pretty simple to me to come to this forum, and then if there's a new post in the thread, click the little arrow button and it takes you to the latest post since your last visit. If you've ever posted in the thread, then the forum adds a little green arrow on the left so you know it's a thread you've participated. If you post in both this thread and the new bargains thread, then whenever there's a new post in either, it'll be easy to spot. Complaining about two clicks instead of one is the height of first world problems, but then again, this is a forum about buying premium collected edition comic books so maybe it's fitting that's what people complain about.

Does it bother me if somebody puts a good link or info here? No. Would this info also help DC or general fans? Then it would be better to put it (also) elsewhere. Do we have to have tons of B&N coupons or tax discussions on a Marvel thread? It doesn't feel right unless these coupons apply only for Marvel books. Just my opinion, I'm OK with any other opinion. Good points here & there...

Well said. That's the purpose the deals thread should serve. I also believe Marvel specific deals should be allowed here. It keeps things organic, but anything general or helpful to the whole Collected Editions forum should go in the deals thread. A brief mention of a general deal with a link to the deals thread discussion should work fine.

I'll add that learning how to use the subscription function is a god send for this. It's so simple once you try it. Follow a handful of threads on one page and easily see what's' been posted in recently.

Unacceptable! Too much clutter! Such a link wouldn't have anything to do with Marvel!

I honestly wouldn't mind if complainers just left. There are other message boards and websites if CBR no longer suits someone. Other "notable" people who made similar discussion arguments from the old CBR Marvel Omnibus thread didn't come to the new CBR or are posting under fake identities - either way their presence isn't missed. I didn't even notice shipping discussions were absent from this thread. People still post pictures of books in this thread that seem to be of help to certain users. I didn't notice any lack of no "shelf porn" pics but I certainly don't miss those either.

There's still plenty to talk about relative to Marvel collected editions. There's been plenty of discussion about the quality of certain storylines in various collected editions. There's plenty of talk about future releases. There's still talk about the quality of certain releases. There's still more than enough "wish list" talk. It doesn't seem like this thread has run out of things to talk about at all just because B&N coupon code discussion and other sales have been moved to their own thread.

Compartmentalizing things is the exact purpose of a message board. This isn't supposed to be a giant chat room of mixed topics limited to one thread.

To this end, with that big Secret Wars boxed set announced (although not officially solicited yet), it makes me wonder if we might see a reprint for Secret Wars omnibuses before next year's big Secret Wars event. Seems plausible, although it's still anyone's guess.

What I would like to see if Marvel collecting some of the random stuff from that box set and releasing them separately; ideally a Secret Wars Companion OHC or omnibus would be excellent. They do those companion books with just about every event now, why not do one for the first BIG one? p.s. I'll admit I'm a huge SW fan, although never fully read SW II, so while it gets a lot of flak, I can't comment on that as I've not read it.

"Why the hell do you need an arrow that comes back to you after you shoot it, Clint?" - Kate
    "Because... Boomerangs." - Clint.

It would seem like if Marvel is going to drop that Secret Wars Boxset, chances are they wouldn't cannibalize sales by also re-releasing any Secret Wars Omnibuses. But it's quite possible they'll try to get you double dip later on after the boxset sales are done with. Marvel seems to be fond of trying to convince people to double dip in the Complete Collection-Omnibus and OSHC Smaller Volumes-Omnibus departments.

Avengers Forever is a different kind of book. I liked it and loved the art but it mostly deals with clearing up continuity issues that occurred with the Avengers, especially with The Crossing. It is continuity heavy and has to do a lot of explaining.

It's also not a very good way to determine whether or not you would like the rest of Busiek's run or Avengers comics in general.

At least try the deals thread out before complaining, it's already up to 3 pages.

If you have complaints pm me or SJNeal about it. It's not a topic up for discussion at this stage.

Aquitaine you were already banned previously , and only post here because you contribute. Please go back to contributing.

My 9 posts say nothing about how long me reading and writing here. Jumping to conclusions ey? Names can change.
So what was your point? Which "discussion" exactly do you mean by posting a special offer here? The 'yeah cool discussion' or the 'I found a big one' epic discussion followed by another advertisement and the "damn, I have to get me one of those" statements? Why not post banners and direct links? That would make a great "discussion"...The separate thread is just the perfect place for such "discussions" and much more easy to follow if you looking for some special offer.

That's not clear at all. You haven't established your criteria for a "thread regular." You haven't established how many users qualify as "thread regulars." And I'd imagine if you did establish any criteria, you'd probably ignore those who read/lurk consistently but don't post unless they have something to contribute. You also equate silence as a not-agreeing-with-the-new-rule. If people agree with the new rule, why would they necessarily post about it? Furthermore, this is a new rule decision. Not everyone has had time to read it, see it, and react if they care to have a reaction. Also, your "selective reading" jab at me is odd. You need to try harder. At this point you're just being a blowhard troll.

The mods are right. For some reason this thread attracts a very vocal minority that think they're the majority.
