we don't know if Terrigen mist is toxic or not. that is all Bleeding Cool speculation.
Quicksilver gave shards to multiple mutants in "Son of M" in an attempt to help them regain their mutant powers.
Got it. Hadn't heard of that.
Terrigen has had varying levels of toxicity throughout continuity. In some instances it has no effect to humans, in others it gives humans Inhuman-like abilities at a cost of quick decay, others it depends on whether humans have a latent inhuman gene.
I'd just like some consistency.
The Terrigen Bomb happened a few years ago by now there should have affected the mutant. I suspect that the Terrigen Mist coupled with some new weapons that the Marvel writers have been talking about that was introduced during/after Secret War is going to be what "intertwines" the two franchises.

"In the eight-month gap in between the closing chapter of "Secret Wars" and the first issue of "Extraordinary X-Men," a new series from writer Jeff Lemire ("All-New Hawkeye," "Animal Man") artist Humberto Ramos ("Amazing Spider-Man") and colorist Edgar Delgado, something big will have happened between the Inhumans and the mutants. The Terrigen Mists will start affecting mutants in an unforeseen way and a number of the X-Men's heavy-hitters -- including Cyclops -- will have vanished. A new team led by Storm and comprised of both new and old versions of iconic X-Men will emerge and kick off what Lemire -- as revealed in this exclusive interview with Comic Book Resources -- hopes will be a run to remember.".

"Also on the X-Men subject -- Cullen Bunn and Greg Land are on "Uncanny X-Men," but it's a very different Uncanny X-Men than readers are used to, led by Magneto and with other characters primarily known as villains, including Sabretooth and Mystique. What inspired this change in direction in the return of one of Marvel's longest-running titles?
Alonso: The X-Men find themselves in a unique situation after "Secret Wars." They live in a world that not only hates and fears them, but -- thanks to the Terrigen Mists -- is a lot more dangerous. The new Uncanny team is resolved to protect mutants by all means necessary, whatever the cost. What lines are each of these characters willing to cross to save their kind? Well, look at that roster. I mean, they're even more hardcore than the X-Force."

And how long i know, the only one that the powers back with the terrigen is Quicksilver.
Anyways, the mist is also toxic in the MCU; well, tecnically the mist was harmless, but the metal containing the crystal turned any non-Inhuman who touch it in rock, but the Inhumans ended up making more crystals by accident after melting a diviner (i.e. the metal container), and given that this new crystals are fused together with the metal, so now the mist gives powers to the Inhumans and turns non-Inhumans in rock.
In the MCU they take a lot of liberties because they had to paint the Inhumans as the villains against the Agents of SHIELDS. The story was so contrived just to have a quick fix for SHIELDS. Nothing of the sort has happened in the comics and IF it did what would be the point in building them up?

Well, except for the terrigen, all of that has already happened in the X-men comics.
Or the mutants that live in a bunker with Cyclops, or in a school with Storm and Wolverine.
Im pretty sure that somehow, this is going to be Cyclops' "fault", like always.

Has anyone considered the "its a more dangerous world because of the Terrigen mists" line means it's more dangerous because there are more super powered people who may or may not intentionally cause harm?
We've got the O5 kids running around on a bus, and people still want to believe the mists hurt mutants...
