The Fantastic Four Appreciation 2020

I'm pretty much in the center, tbh. This isn't a story that needed to be built up to the way it was. Doing so created bigger expectation from me. This issue could have been the beginning and end of this story, and it would have been fine. Everything you needed to know about the whole affair was mentioned in this issue. It makes the build up to it look like filler. I liked the issue itself for what it was, though.

Yeah. The "build-up" was the last page of the previous issue. It could have been filler or a "in our next issue" promo. But the story built Reed and Ben's friendship, covered more supporting cast members, and was a bridge between two big stories.

There seem to be fans who appreciate small stories and those who would rather see all epic blockbusters. I like the small as well as the big especially with the FF. The FF does much better with down time and "normal" family activities than other series.

I'm really looking forward to next month's issue. Shouldn't ff/xmen make it weird for logan? Ooh the coming months are gonna be juicy for the FF.

I was able to pick up some Funko Pops at least earlier this week. I got the Barnes and Noble exclusive of the Thing and then I went to Target to pick up a few things and saw that they had the FF Mini Mysteries in stock. As luck would have it, I got Target's exclusive of the Thing.

Hopefully Logan and Peter will turn out to be the most logical substitute FF members Val and Franklin choose story-wise and not just for a fortuitous reunion of the "New FF" teased in a later issue with Hulk and Ghost Rider.

I dislike the use of the "new FF" as an actual team and not just the meta-joke Walt Simonson seemed to originally use them for. But seriously looking at Logan and Peter hanging with the kids, I see Peter able to give Franklin some advice on being a teenage boy in a superhero world. That is if Franklin becomes less of an a-hole teenager to listen. And even though Logan has a connection with enough young girls to border on the creepy, I can see he and Val having some moments as they seem to be very different.
