I also feel the middle ground between "CHINAS EVIL" and "YOUR A RACIST TRYING TO COVER UP AMERICAS FAULT"
Is the more realistic "This is Chinas fault through poor public hygiene and their continuing to lie to us is a dangerous policy that should be called out on" whilst focusing explicitly on the fact its not the average Chinese citizens fault.
The cynic in me suspects the prospect of that upcoming $1,200 check probably bought Trump some support.

Trump beats a retreat on opening the country as coronavirus data, images show dark reality
For six days straight, President Trump talked about reopening the country quickly. He wanted people filing into offices again, diners returning to restaurants and shoppers gathering at malls without fear of contagion.
Trump mused about a reopening date of April 12, picking it arbitrarily because he thought it would be beautiful to see church pews packed with parishioners on Easter. Then he dug in, seeming to tune out the nearly unanimous assessment of public health experts and governors and mayors fighting to help save lives, which was that Easter would be far too soon because the worst still was yet to come. As the self-described wartime president saw things, the novel coronavirus was a “silent enemy” and America was defeating it.
What a difference a week makes.
Trump beat a hasty retreat on Sunday, announcing from the Rose Garden just before dusk that the federal government’s stringent social distancing guidelines, set to expire on Monday, would be extended through April 30.More still — as the number of coronavirus deaths in the United States surpassed 2,400, nearly 1,000 of them in New York alone — the president acknowledged that the silent enemy was gaining ground.
Trump said his decision was driven by the science, but he may have been moved more by the personal — seeing body bags carried out of the hospital near his Queens boyhood home and learning that a friend was now in a coma — judging by the emotion with which he spoke about both.Trump said he was convinced by data modeling presented to him by two physicians advising him on the pandemic — Anthony S. Fauci, the longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and Deborah L. Birx, the White House coronavirus task force coordinator — that the death rate in this country probably will not peak for another two weeks.

‘We Will Starve Here’: India’s Poor Flee Cities in Mass Exodus
In small groups and large crowds, through inner-city lanes and down interstate highways, hundreds of thousands of India’s poorest are slowly making a desperate journey on foot back to their villages in a mass exodus unseen since the days immediately after India’s independence in 1947.
For many, it’s a matter of life and death. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s order last Tuesday to lock down the country for 21 days to prevent the spread of Covid-19 has dried up work in urban areas, leaving many rural migrants who keep the city moving while making less than $2 a day -- construction workers, handymen, food sellers, truck drivers and household help -- suddenly wondering how they’ll pay rent or buy food.“We have to go to our village -- we will starve here,” said Rekha Devi as she walked with her husband and two young children down a highway outside of Delhi, heading to see her family some 370 kilometers (270 miles) away. The couple lived on the construction site where they worked, but the job stopped suddenly more than a week ago.

That just shows you how dumb folks are.
Those are probably the folks that keep disregarding everything he has done and all the warnings about the virus.
Lets see what those numbers when LAYOFFS really start happening. Because you KNOW someone in those companies are looking at this as a way to HOUSECLEAN folks that they don't like.
YOu can only bail out companies for so long before the public gets fed up.

Aggregate polls still show him with low approval rating though. 538 shows a 3% increase at 45.5% approval; the same he had on day 1.
FOX entertainment news just fired that female that called the whole thing a "Democratic hoax". I LOL'd.
Oh this is absolutely insanity. One of my favorites of the Christo-fascist, Death Cult celebrities has potentially jeopardizing his "University" just to own the Libs. He just sentenced a bunch of young people to a potentially cruel & sadistic death. Will his "faith" save him from the lawsuits?

The insanity continues and it probably helps explain why the virus is getting so bad here.

Trump's Approval Hits New High, But A Rally-Around-The-Flag Effect Is Small
Survey data has been mixed.
Trump has hit his highest approval rating since becoming president – 47%, according to an average of the polls. That's an increase of nearly 3 points over the last two weeks.
On Trump's handling of the pandemic, Gallup found 60% of American adults approve. A Fox News poll out Thursday found it lower, at 51%. Reuters/Ipsos and Economist/YouGov polls similarly had it at 49%.
Those are all increases from two weeks ago, when the NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll found 44% approved of his response to the crisis.-----But there are lingering questions about the president's approach. Over the last several weeks, Trump has been inconsistent. He first downplayed the threat of the coronavirus, then appeared to take it much more seriously last week, and then said the White House can't let the "cure" of public health measures be worse than economic harm and suggested "opening up" the country by Easter.
Trump has faced criticism for the United States being slow to test for the virus, and for not using his full authority to distribute needed supplies. The U.S. now has the most confirmed cases in the world, and more than 1,000 Americans have died, according to Johns Hopkins University researchers.
It's possible current polling is a lagging indicator from Trump publicly taking the virus more seriously than he had been previously. Surveys so far largely aren't reflecting Trump's pivot this week to suggesting he wants to reopen the economy within weeks.
Regardless, the 3-point increase in his approval rating so far is not much of a bump, certainly not the kind of increase other presidents have seen in other rally-around-the-flag moments, pollsters say.
Op-Ed: A virus is raging. The economy is in free fall. Why Trump’s approval rating is still going up
Yet despite the worsening pandemic and withering criticism of President Trump’s performance by public health experts and media pundits, his overall approval rating is up 5 percentage points in the most recent weekly Gallup poll. For only the second time in his presidency, Gallup found more Americans approving (49%) than disapproving (45%) of his job performance. Some 60% gave him positive reviews for his handling of the pandemic.
What accounts for this?
Scholars refer to the spike in presidential approval ratings that sometimes accompanies the nation’s darkest times as the “rally-round-the-flag” effect. Such rallies can follow sudden, dramatic crises, such as the onset of a war. Franklin Roosevelt’s approval rating rose by 11 percentage points after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in December 1941. George W. Bush saw his approval ratings spike by 35 points within four days of 9/11, the largest approval rally ever recorded.

The holy rollers are the most dangerous. They foolishly believe their imaginary sky dude will protect them from all evil, including COVID-19. Well, coronavirus is like the Honey Badger, it don't give a **** what deity you believe in, it'll get into you and kill you, even worse, these idiots will pass the virus along to family, friends, anyone they come in contact with and the whole thing will blow sky high. Maddening.

I know. Their fantasy man in the sky isn't going to protect them. It's the same with the environment. "People just don't have enough faith in the man upstairs" [their ancient tribal deity]. Reminds me of the guy that got so frustrated with the whole thing because people would be "healed" from everything from eye problems to a broken leg but, the next Sunday, the one guy is clearly still wearing glasses and the other clearly still has a broken leg. Only this time, these mythical beliefs are going to add thousands to the death toll.
