Man, this issue was brutal.
Knowing what comes next with the Wave 1 books, and knowing that nothing is ever straight-forward with Hickman, and knowing what we've already learned in this storyline, there's no way that any of the... costs of this mission stick permanently. But I'm excited to see how this actually resolves.

I think it's powerful and resonant bc the meta-statement of it all - especially at the end, encapsulated by a certain character's monologue - is really about the dark morass of the franchise over the recent years. For me it matters because that matters, and because we love them all. And it's also a very well-done, action-packed, emotional issue. The final scene between two folks near the end had me cutting the onions

Page 4 infographic. You can't miss it, It is subtle shade but you have to appreciate as X-men fan and it is nice the Hickman has finger on the pulse with these things. Like when Magneto took a shot a AIM/Hydra in a previous issue. The only question I have does that mean the change that happen "to them" is going to stick but that is a question/discussion for official thread.

I doubt it will stick. The recent retcon is lame, unpopular and obscure, and the original iteration is a fundamental aspect of the character. I'd wager a lot of people have no idea it was ever changed. I think the commentary in the infographic is just a pointed attack on the character from a pro-mutant/militant POV, and I loved it.
