I was trying to do too much and not doing any of it as well as I could. But I've had a change of mind... though not everyone shall enjoy it. I will.

Do conservative queers even deserve rights?
I found the conversation to be interesting, as well. I skewed more towards the liberal speakers, which I expected to, but I found the comment about the label of 'queer' to give me the most mixed feelings. Someone in the video said that if it is an umbrella term that means everything, then it really means nothing. I've heard that take before and it gave me something to think about.
However, another person defining it as the acknowledgement of a separate space also gave me something to think about. The trans man in the video said that he uses queer because he had lived under several previous identities, so for him to just refer to himself as heterosexual would not cut it. I liked that take, as the label 'queer', like all other labels and words are made-up anyway. Yes, 'gay', 'lesbian' and so on have understood meanings, but for those whose identities/sexualities/etc aren't as "clear-cut" as others, the word 'queer' (or any other word which makes them comfortable) can help. It's tricky, though, because it is still a very triggering word for a large amount of people. Still, I believe that people can self-identify with the term if they choose to. I do occasionally (identify with queer) but, I am at the point where 9 out of 10 times, I am not using any label when it comes to orientation.

Very interesting video, thanks so much for the link.
I was pulled in immediately because of the conversation of "queer" and "lgbtqia+". I have been called this community (jokingly) as "The Alphabet Crew", which seems to get longer and longer. As was said in the video, "too many damn letters".
It seems that "gay" (which used to refer to everyone) is now saved for gay men only.
If I could, I would say that the entire community would fall under the umbrella term of "queer". The rainbow flag, which was originally designed to represent all of the gay community, would now be known as the "Queer Pride Flag". This would not negate the other flags that exist, each group would still have their own, but this would allow them all to also identify with the rainbow flag. If gay men want their own flag as well, it could be a new flag, perhaps one with the pink triangle, against a field of blue or green.
This would allow the whole community to ditch all the letters and fall under one title, and identify with the rainbow flag, as well as their own flag.
My own opinion, I think our community needs to be organized and united......using all the letters seems to segregate and separate us all.

I was watching some clips from the old Solid Gold TV show, and their choreographer had one of the best drag names ever. I was surprised to find out it's actually a cis woman and it appears to be her real name:
