Eh, this is worse than the first half of Slott at least, which wasn't really that bad until it got into the post-Superior days. And I hold the MJ stuff against this run way more since Slott clearly wasn't allowed to have them together while Wells could.

Man, it is so weird to think that a few years ago I was absolutely convinced that ASM 900 was going to be either Peter and MJ getting engaged or married.

I still think that's where Spencer was headed.

This is the first anniversary issue I've skipped out on since 500 (which was a busy time in my life, and quite frankly, I was too broke to buy monthly comics).

No slight on Wells, who is a great writer I've enjoyed quite a bit by him. But I just don't feel personally enthused by where the Spider-Man line is after getting a 75 issue buildup to Pete/MJ only to have it all reversed within a few months (offpanel, no less).

Yeah, Slott’s early stuff (except for Alpha) was okay. But the cringe dialogue was always there.

I agree, he was definitely heading towards a wedding and even had the ring ready.

Spencer was doing solid work making Spider-Man fun and interesting again but you could see something changed around half way and someone had stuck their nose into his work.

But this is genuinely a terribly written issue and an embarrassment of a milestone, Happy 900 everyone. I seriously miss Spencer and what he was trying to do by fixing the mess of the last 15 years.

Ed’s still a great artist though and deserves to be on a big book since he was wasted on avengers

    A very forgettable issue.

Nothing that really intrigued me or moved me. Just a lot of predictable stuff with good art.

Thankfully the inflation hasn’t hit me hard yet but whelp 10 for this is way to much. No way I can recommend it to anyone in these times with that price.

I must remember incorrectly but wasn’t Slotts part suppose to feature MJ? Or is that another story yet to be published? Or was it just speculation?

Not the best issue of Spider-Man, I admit; but it wasn't so bad either. I mean, I have seen worse stories in the past. It was actually entertained, and I liked how the Living Brain got his answer around "Who is Spider-Man?".

I personally like how the key to defeat the Super-Adaptoid was actually to make the conflicting personalities of the Sinister Six to fight each other, tearing itself apart. Personally, I think the Living Brain should have used the Green Goblin and Venom for this machine.

Bad things about the issue, however:
    - It bugs me Mary Jane didn't appear in the party.
    - I expected a bigger reaction from Peter about Flash being back alive.
    - Did Flash forget Peter is Spider-Man? I'm not sure about it.
    - Finally, how is it Flash has mechanical legs again? I though the Anti-Venom restored his body completely, including his legs.

Slott's got a story in Amazing Fantasy #1000. That's supposed to put emphasis on Peter x MJ.

I may try to read this again. I am definitely on for next issue but maybe I was on such a gambit high that i missed something
It just felt more like an annual.

It didn't add much unless the living brain comes back, it feels like this run will be short and rushed after Dark Web

Aha. That explains why I got it mixed up. Thanks.

Dr. Boris Korpse was a member of Felicia's crew, back in her first appearance in ASM #194. He was brought back to become a regular supporting character in Jed MacKay's excellent Black Cat series.

This issue was....eh. It seems like a simple stand alone milestone issue, but then you delve deeper into it and it becomes rather insulting.

    spoilers:
Oh hey, Otto's here. And he's asking for Spider-man's help. Maybe they'll throw us SpOck fans a bone--wait, no. He's a full blown blustering idiot again. Fun.

Oh hey it's Flash. Wait...this is how you reveal that Flash is alive again to Peter? As a throwaway line? Soooooo much wasted potential. Also I find it REALLY hard to believe that his symbiote could be nullified so easily.

Oh Hey, Anna Maria. People remember you exist. Wait, your only contribution to this issue is to state that you essentially want to jump Otto's bones? To hell with all the character development and the genuinine friendship you developed with him in Superior Vol 2? To the point that you encouraged him to hook up with Emma? Remember that marvel??

Oh hey Bobbi. We haven't seen you in Spider-man in.....what...five or so years? You sure as hell haven't been his bodyguard in a while. Seems like you're only there to create friction with Felicia. And speaking of...

Oh hey, Peter and Felicia? Okay. Fine. While I don't mind the pairing, it LITERALLY came out of left field. At least give us a reason. Show the two of them growing closer in the wake of whatever happened with MJ. Make it mean something instead of "Oh hey, Peter and Felicia are a thing now.". It's also hard to get invested when 1) they seem to be hinting that Peter and MJ are going to get back together AGAIN and 2) Even if they aren't hinting at it, it's REALLY hard to get invested in a relationship when Marvel has shown an absolute willingness to disregard any type of character and relationship building on a whim.
    end of spoilers
