I'm not sure if Disney is going to milk Star Wars as much as it already was. It's largely the movies that are seeing more focus but otherwise the games, comics, and the TV show are pretty much happening at the same rate (or close to it) as prior to 2014. The reason the movies had as much downtime as they did was that the OT was its own thing and then George decided to do the prequels, and later have TCW pilot in theaters. Ten or so years pass and we have a new trilogy but in between that we've never had a gap in content. And even then the OT even had some direct to video movies, TV shows, a slew of merchandise that extended into the release of the prequels. The Holiday special is even notorious for being made to keep interest in Star Wars and milk the brand in-between movies.

I'm not under the impression that Star Wars had merchandising or development gap in anything since the originals release.

I think 1986-1991 is sort of considered the "wilderness years", with very little coming out-the Marvel comics, spin-off cartoons and the toy line ended, and Lucas's attention largely shifted to other projects (Indiana Jones,Willow, Howard the Duck et.) as well as beefing up Pixar and THX. I think it was pretty much just the pen-and-paper RPG and Star Tours along with some home video releases.

I think with the somewhat costly failures of Howard/Willow, as well as advances in CGI technology with T2 and later Jurassic Park, caused Lucas to reconsider. I'm not sure what prompted the novel/comics revival, whether it was Lucas or somebody else (I believe the prequel announcement came around in '94 if I remember correctly).

Of course. That's what they bought it for, after all. I would have been shocked, quite frankly, if this sequel trilogy was the last thing they did with it from a film perspective.

Tag and Bink are supposed to be in TLJ. I’ll be real disappointed if that’s the TV show.

Wonder if it'll be one of those things were a reference book labels a couple of extras as "Tag" and "Bink" but you'd never know from the film proper or if the role will be a little more substantial. (Thought it was the Han Solo movie, not TLJ.)

I'm having a party if that's the tv show, assuming its somewhat comic book accurate.

Ehm... what tv show is this anyway?

They announced that a live action show was in the works that will be apart of the forth coming Disney streaming service.

Actually it's the Han Solo spinoff. https://nerdist.com/star-wars-han-so...-tag-and-bink/

Although since the First Order is composed in part of Imperials from the war, it's possible they could be in both. (Seems to be the route they're taking with "Battlefront II"-the campaign seems to involve-or possibly ends-at Starkiller base, with possibly an old Iden Versio).

So by it being "from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored", I guess that means no Empire or Stormtroopers and the Rebel alliance?

I don't know why they couldn't do another Rogue One type of movie with just different characters fighting the Empire.

This kind of makes me wonder about the state of the third spin-off film. They strongly hinted at a big announcement in June about it, but then the Han Solo mess happened and it hasn't been much talked about since apart from the Obi-Wan rumors which have yet to be verified by Disney itself.

They better do an Obi-Wan spinoff and I want Ewan McGregor back starring in it.

Maybe we can now have a chance to see people of color actually be written into stories of being jedi, if not then it's just more of the same old stuff we been getting and therefore boring. It's 2017 how much longer can the trope of white male and female occupying the role of the mystical warriors of this mythology?

People of color have been Jedi. It's mostly been in the prequels and its tv shows due to that being the only period you could have more than what was already locked in. Mace Windu in the films was even critical to what spawned Darth Vader (one of if not the most famous cinematic villain) and while Vader was portrayed by many actors, he is most famously voiced by a black actor who still does it to this day. It deserves more prominence, but the OT and prequels got locked in and while I've never seen the casting sheets, I doubt Lucas was all that worried about a specific actor to play certain roles. You sometimes get whomever is available but regardless, yes, people of color have been Jedi and some of the most famous characters of a franchise or generation.
