Can anyone explain to me the current status of the Ultraverse comics originally done by Malibu before Marvel bought them? Is there any chance the characters will be revisited or the comics reprinted?

There seems to be very little chance of either happening as the characters were and are co-owner by the company and the creators or some such. So to do either of those would mean for marvel to not only pay royalties but profit sharing. They don't seem interested in sharing the ownership.
It's difficult to say exactly what the main obstacle is, as the few people who know don't seem keen to talk about it. There have been a few comments in interviews that suggest there might be one particular person who has a stake in the rights and wants to play hardball.
Last I checked it was Malibu co-founder, Scott Rosenberg, who also owned the movie, tv-rights, to the characters. The sweetest plumb to the powers that be at Marvel/Disney. So I doubt they'll be dusted off anytime soon sorry to say.
Man I wish dc had won that bid. They might still be around today.
Disney should pay whoever has partial ownership and come to a settlement.
One even showed up in the flashpoint animated film!
I had read that YOUNG JUSTICE producer Greg Wiseman had plans to use some of the Wildstorm characters for the now revived Season Three of YJ. So they are getting some love. Hopefully the plans were reinitialized for the upcoming season.
