Hundreds of Texans seeking to vote by mail in the upcoming March primary elections are seeing their applications for ballots rejected by local election offices trying to comply with stricter voting rules enacted by Texas Republicans last year.
Election officials in some of the state’s largest counties are rejecting an alarming number of mail-in applications because they don’t meet the state’s new identification requirements. Some applications are being rejected because of a mismatch between the new identification requirements and the data the state has on file to verify voters.
Under Texas’ new voting law, absentee voters must include their driver’s license number or state ID number or, if they don’t have one, the last four digits of their Social Security number on their applications. If they don’t have those IDs, voters can indicate they have not been issued that identification. Counties must match those numbers against the information in an individual’s voter file to approve them for a mail-in ballot.

Dan Oingoboingo Temporarily Suspended From YouTube Over COVID Misinfo
Oh well, he still has Parler.Fox News host and conservative media mogul Dan Bongino will not be “owning the libs” on YouTube for at least one week after being hit with his first strike on the platform. On Friday evening, a YouTube spokesperson told The Daily Beast the video platform had cited Bongino’s channel for violating their COVID-19 misinformation policy. “We removed a video for violating our policies on COVID-19 misinformation, specifically for comments that masks are useless, resulting in a first strike on the channel,” the spokesperson told The Daily Beast. Further, the video platform temporarily removed Bongino’s channel from their Partner Program and “suspended monetization for repeatedly violating our Advertiser-Friendly Guidelines on harmful and dangerous acts.”
A separate point here is that if there are a lot of people eligible to vote that do not one of those forms of ID, then that's also a big problem for the state and the nation. Is it just too hard to get an ID for some groups of people?Under Texas’ new voting law, absentee voters must include their driver’s license number or state ID number or, if they don’t have one, the last four digits of their Social Security number on their applications. If they don’t have those IDs, voters can indicate they have not been issued that identification. Counties must match those numbers against the information in an individual’s voter file to approve them for a mail-in ballot.
Sometimes. Also there may be a problem with the Voting records not having that information on file or not having the correct information. One missing or mistyped digit could be enough to get a application thrown out.
State's failures led to voter ID problems in 2016 - May 2, 2017
What You Should Know About Voter ID in Texas - November 5, 2018Indeed, the state's efforts to enact and enforce the strictest voter ID law in the nation were so plagued by delays, revisions, court interventions and inadequate education that the casting of ballots was inevitably troubled. Among the problems that surfaced:
The Texas Department of Public Safety, a law enforcement agency tasked with issuing free IDs for voting purposes, initially required those who applied for the ID to be fingerprinted, a decision many say scared off potential voters. DPS also didn't have Spanish translators in all of its offices and didn't initially provide applications or information about the free IDs in any language other than English.
Remarkably, the very aim of the legislation — to thwart people from voting illegally — was not fully addressed by the law, which allowed three versions of identification obtainable by non-citizens.
Texas voter ID: What to know for the 2020 election - August 12, 2020It’s a process that requires Texans to remain vigilant as they go to the polls, because they cannot always rely on election officials to get the details of the policy right or to navigate misleading information that might be out there. For example, some drivers might have seen a billboard on the highway suggesting — falsely — that voters need a passport in order to vote. Furthermore, according to its own website, the Texas Secretary of State’s office has held only one event this year where election officials have gone into communities to provide free photo IDs to voters that need them, despite a legal requirement that the state establish a program to do so.
That fainthearted approach to protecting the rights of eligible voters is unacceptable, and it is particularly troubling given the history of Texas’ voter ID law.
Texas has been facing court battles ever since the implementation of the state’s discriminatory voter ID laws in 2011. It’s obvious that these laws were put into place by Texas Republicans to suppress voters, especially young voters and voters of color. But while these challenges have gone back and forth in the courts, the voter ID laws still remain. The last few years, the state of Texas has started issuing their Real ID-compliant driver licenses. These licenses feature a gold circle with a star imprint.
Starting in October 2020, these driver’s licenses will be needed to fly domestically as part of the Real ID Act Congress passed in response to 9/11. However, they are NOT necessary for voting. Old driver licenses will still be valid for other state-related purposes like driving, banking, and voting.
Texas must pay $6.8 million in legal fees to parties who challenged voter ID law, federal appeals court says - Sept. 3, 2021
Texas remains responsible for nearly $6.8 million in legal fees and costs owed to the collection of parties who sued over its voter ID law.
Although the state ultimately won the long-winding fight to keep the voter ID law on the books, a panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday upheld a lower court ruling that found the state is on the hook for that sum — the last vestige of the legal battle over the 2011 restrictions the state set on what forms of photo identification are accepted at the polls.
The Texas attorney general’s office had appealed that lower court ruling, which found the plaintiffs in the litigation — Democratic U.S. Rep. Marc Veasey of Fort Worth, individual voters, voting and civil rights groups, the NAACP-Texas and the Texas House’s Mexican American Legislative Caucus, among others — were the “prevailing parties.”
“It seems obvious that they are,” the 5th Circuit judges wrote Friday. “Plaintiffs successfully challenged the Texas photo ID requirement before our en banc court, and used that victory to secure a court order permanently preventing its enforcement during the elections in 2016 and 2017.”

And by two years ago, over 1200 polling places had been closed by GOP lead states.

Then this is essentially an innovation on the Dixie-crat era in the segregated South just back then Republicans and Democrats were exactly the opposite of what they are today. There are still people alive that remember when if you were black or a poor white person, then you either could not vote or your vote didn't count.
Remember Roberts voided the Voting Rights Act because our country was no longer racist and we didn't have Voter suppression problems anymore. Another nail in the coffin of American Democracy.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
Kristi Noem is now running ads openly running on the transgender athlete panic. I want to thank everyone who continues to help enable this nonsense.

Of course. But they forget those details when they talk about how non racist America and Fox News is.
What is really amazing is when someone says
"How can we be a racist country. Didnt 1 of those people get voted president?" And they just dont understand what they just said. Like their mind cant hear the words.
