You don't need the actor to hail from the exact geographic location as the character they're portraying. That's the whole point of acting. They need to look the part and be able to deliver on characteristics and personality. They need to become that character on screen. Hell, Charlize Theron could act the hell out of a true Storm character. She's just, unfortunately, the wrong skin colour.

Angela Bassett initially would've made a superior Storm back during the original two films (X3 doesn't exist to me) as she looked the part and could've owned that role. Lost opportunity. At least she got to play Storm on AHS: Coven.

I'm actually okay with Shipp not having blue contacts. They don't look that natural on people with dark eyes, just look at Jessica Alba and Brandon Routh, to me they're unconvincing.

Maybe Caliban is the one who "sells" Angel. Remeber the concept art with Angel on a cage? It looked like an underground mutant circus/freak show/auction. And judging by the "business" part it sure is something dodgy.

Not to mention, if Shipp is playing young Storm then how is she going to have blue eyes as a teen but when she grows up to Halle Berry Storm she has brown eyes. It wouldn't make sense.
