Zoe Salanda couldn't (shouldn't) play Nina Simone. Yes they are cases where PoC shouldn't play PoC. Amandla Stenberg drop out of the running for Shuri

"That was not a space that I should have taken up," Stenberg said. "And it was so exhilarating to see it fulfilled by people who should have been a part of it and who deserved it and who were right for it. I just wasn't."
Some actors get it. I won't criticize an actor in the role for fiction once they have a part hey you can change anything in fiction. But the casting process is another story if the part calls for dark skin afro Latino, Then a light skin afro Latino shouldn't necessarily play the part. Luke Cage shouldn't be played by Michael Ealy, Blade shouldn't be played by Boris Kodjoe, Falcon shouldn't be played Gary Dourdan even though they are black. There is a responsibility for casting director if possible to cast a person who resembles the character on the page. I don't have a problem with them changing a part for a good actor it is fiction but no way was it "perfect casting".

As for the movie having to be released in theaters. Contracts can be amended and given choice being movie never being released and on streaming. I wonder what the actors would going to pick,Sure they will prefer a theatrical release but just being release supersedes anything. There is no leverage to make this be released in theaters .Disney can banish this to dark end of limbo.

This is objectively the worst X-Men movie.

We've not seen it yet, and we have seen Last Stand and Dark Phoenix.

I heard that it tested well, actually, but the suits wanted to franchise tweak it.

I don't have to see it to say its the worse X-film. It goes against everything the X-Men stand for and you should know what I mean by this.

The Last Stand and Dark Phoenix are not guilty of this sin. Hell, their plots were trying to be metaphors for LGBT people and those with mental health issues, respectively.

    Not really.

From a strictly "Objective..." point of view, the most recent X-Men film has had an objectively lousy theatrical run. Trying to create any sort of an "Objective..." comparison where a proven failure is not worse than a potential failure make right around "Zero" sense.

The last X-film had lower awareness rates than any other X-film, as in a lot of people didn't even know it was coming out. One of the fatal flaws in using Box Office to measure quality.

But anyway, read my last post to understand where I am coming from.

Not if you are going to look at things in "Objective..." terms.

How much money a film made is set in stone. Perfect thing to look at if you are going to make an "Objective..." argument.

If you are talking in terms of "Quality..."? Whole other deal... Trying make an "Objective..." assertion about quality?

That's just going to lead to a lot of tail chasing where folks are trying to find "Proof..." for what is mostly "Opinion..."

So much negativity. Be proud, X-Fans! You're no longer involved in the most convoluted multi-studio debacle over the rights of Marvel characters!

Perhaps I shouldn't have used the "objectively". But still, to hell with this movie.

Reports are that another version of New Mutants had a test screening over the weekend. It's a new cut without any reshoots.

Tweet about screening calling it "okay: https://twitter.com/ViewerAnon/statu...70147760377856

A person claiming to be a film editor has been tweeting about the changes: https://twitter.com/ImAFilmEditor

Edited to add another reaction to the screening: "Hearing the New Mutants test screening went surprisingly well!" https://twitter.com/thomas_polito/st...09366005252096
