Alright, folks, you know the drill. Praise be to Mother Askani!
... and hopefully a better year than last.

I have been rereading excalibur and it's damn shame some people think of Rachel just as a Jean clone.
Also when things are bad it ususally means they can only get better, hopeful this will be a good year for Rachel. I have hopes on Ed Brisson and x-force.
Honestly, things can really only go up for Rachel at this point. I mean, she's now been reverted to "factory settings" twice so there isn't any further regression they can do. Let's hope that Brisson provides Rachel some justice and the good writing that she deserves and has been completely lacking over the past two years ( Brisson's last go included). My only fear is that she's going to receive the Madelyne Pryor treatment, aka be made a villain, to make her more discernible from Jean.
More poor changing her into a hound for 3 issues during an event only to have her become mute and wallpaper and then leave without anyone vowing to save her? The bar isn't high sadly.
If I had my way, Rachel would be saved instead by Blaquesmith and re-trained in the Askani combat that she's forgotten (since she developed it). She comes back under the guise Askani since it has no ties to Jean iconography or character and is a better fleshed out character. Then she goes to X-Force solely or the Avengers since she can't co-exist for long periods of time while Jean is around. it allows her to be utilized by a different office and get some more cred under her. Also allows her to be the true representation of Xavier's Dream on the Avengers.
Personally, I would use the Fantastic Four since it's familiar enough for her since time travel, space travel, and dimension travel are their domain while being enough out of her element with the weird stuff like Negative Zone abominations, abstract concepts, and magic. I don't think the Avengers are a fit for her since Aaron is writing them.
It was, again, one of those things that could have really cemented that the Avengers and X-Men can and SHOULD be working on large scale threats together. I imagine the meeting went like this:
Avengers Editor: Hey so we're making this unity squad made up of Avengers and some X-Men. Cool concept right?
X-Editor: Yes, we'll be able to cross-use characters or have them interact with important stories right?
A-Editor: no, they are now Avengers so they don't really interact unless Bendis says so. Meanwhile, our first concept is Red Skull steals Xavier's brain and gets his powers. Great concept right?
X-Editor: Okkkkkkk......... so like he just sews his brain on his and gets powers? Telepathic powers? So you'll make this a thing and then have a crossover where the X-Men jump in as they have the telepaths and could help.....
A-Editor: (interrupts) Ahem it's an Avengers story. Do you really think they need the X-Men to help?
X-Editor: But you're using X-Men characters and Xavier's brain...
A-Editor: They're all Avengers now. Even Xavier. His portrait is in the Avengers Mansion. Geesh stop mooching off our characters and desperate...
It would have been a great opportunity for Rachel to work with them to track his psi-scent (leading to a confrontation with Ahab who was working with him) but no......
