Yea, but its cool to invalidate Icemans relationships from before. See my hole problem with Bobby was that he was IN LOVE with Polaris and he dated other women to. To disrespect all his relationships before was annoying as hell and he was my favorite X-Man. (Still is top 3) They took bisexuality away from him to please various fans I guess. Whatever...hopefully they'll switch him to Bi so he can get great engaging storytelling out of it.

Malicious sentient computer code hacking into people's lives and trolling them. Outs one of Kamala's friends as secretly gay having a crush on another one of her friends. She gets outed (although mostly on her terms) and she shares her feelings with her crush who doesn't reciprocate but is supportive.

This would never work. As an advocate for gays and Muslims, these two do not play well together. If you make the most prominent modern day Muslim superhero gay then you've just lost the progression of her encompassing the Muslim ideology. She won't eat bacon but she'll sleep with a teenage girl. Hypocritical behaviour isn't admirable. We can have characters like Monet St. Croix have sex and be nude because she's supposed to be a poor example and her attitude and personality just fits with it.

I doubt they would make Kamala queer. If they had such ideas I think we would have had more hints by now. That said, i would love it if they introduced a gay Muslim character somewhere. They exist, just like gay Christians etc.

It might not be that rare, but it's a lot more rare than someone starting out straight actually remaining straight. People who figure out they're sexual orientation later in life and discover they're gay are still a small percentage. Iceman having had some bad relationships with women doesn't mean he was in the closet. Lots of guys have this problem. Being unlucky in relationships doesn't make you gay. Most of the people in this poll have been around a long time and have been straight since their first appearances way back in the sixties. I'm sorry new characters are a tough sell and existing gay characters aren't as popular as some of the older characters, but I would prefer my childhood favorites be left alone.

Not sure what you mean in your first sentence. Of course straight people are the majority, that's not under dispute at all. Someone who's dated women but later in life realized he's gay is indeed more rare than said person who's dated women simply being straight. But I wasn't referring to the statistics, just that Iceman could be gay despite his history with women, just like plenty of gay men in real life are gay despite their history with women. And in the grand scheme of things, this one character with a significant previous dating record turning out to be gay is just one occurrence, in a sea of other characters who have many past relationships and remain straight. I'm not saying that most, or half, or even on quarter of characters should be gay or anything like that, I'm simply disagreeing that Iceman's previous relationships make it less believable that he's gay, because as I said, amongst gay people this is not an uncommon occurrence. I voted other in this poll because I don't have an opinion on any of these particular characters being gay or not, and don't think there's much likelihood of any of them being revealed to be gay, save for maybe Miles.

I also recall Kamala finding issue or at least not seeing the need behind other practices such as her brother needing to escort her around. Or when she snuck out to hang out with the guy she had a thing for.

There's a huge difference between someone observing and practicing their religion somewhat loosely and someone becoming a zealot over it. Kamala falls into the former.

Really, the only way Kamala could be a hypocrite is like you said: Kamala would have to be decrying the "sexual deviancy" of Zoe. And she definitely doesn't feel like Zoe should be killed for being homosexual.


To add: Her brother more or less represents the core and soul of the ideology. Kamala was designed entirely to represent the more modern American Pakastani teenager. It's why she doesn't wear a hijab.
